MAMMA MIA U.S. TOUR in Philly...one word...awful!!!!

Yeah I just got back from this show. I am not one to write a review so this is gonna be short! The production has gone down hill, talent-wise, soooooo much. The girl who played Sophie was no better than something you could find in a small community theater! She had no power vocally, lack very much in acting, and had no chemistry with Dona or Sky. Now, the woman who played Dona was probably the biggest part that brought the show downhill. NO energy in any scene, NO and I mean NO vocal power! She was just plain boring and bad that the general public around me was talking about how bad she was DURING the show. Some guy behind me read in the playbill that she was a proud equity member and then laughed because it just goes to show that all equity members aren't always super talented! And all the "fathers" were not strong either. This just made me so sad because the tour a few years back was sooo talented! I mean I was so disapointed that(along with the 5 other people I was with) that we left at intermission. I guess the Mamma Mia cast thinks they can give a half ass job throughout the show and rely on the finale with the loud music and conert lights! Mamma Mia U.S. tour...dont waste your money! This is MM's third visit to Philly in about 3 years. Covered the first one with Dee Hoty...great cast. Can't say I'd care to be there again.

Yep, I heard it lost its charm, like a few boring posters. LOL!

I caught Tour 1 last year at the Forrest Theatre. That was the one with P.J. Griffith as Sky. Tour 1 is no longer around, but P.J. is now in the A&F magazine (Stars On The Rise).

Well I was never really enamored with the show in the first place. It was fun in some places, but there's only so much you can take with ABBA songs and a thin plot-line. My two-cents, at least. :)

First of all, the show itself sucks..I have friends in the B'way and touring companies and I had to tell them that I really liked their costumes. I had nothing positive to say.

For any one out there that is not Equity and thinks that being Equity equals being talented...you are sorely mistaken.

I thought this Mamma Mia cast was terrible as well. What a waste of my time and money. Such a shame.

Hello, as if the original B'way cast was ANY better?! Have you HEARD the recording??? IT. IS. HORRENDOUS. Weak, paper-thin vocals backed by a vocoder! It's sooooo embarassing that I can't believe B'way was tainted by such inferior talent.

Please please let this show die a violent, and quite embarassing death.

That was the Original London Cast in the recording. And yes, it is horrendous.

But I'm quite sure the Broadway cast sounded better. And the Canadian cast was fantastic.
