So they're releasing the original london cast again, but this time as a 5th Anniv edition with 3 songs recorded in 2004!
so, are the three additional songs sung by the current london cast...or...what?
thats reeeeeally dumb.
they could've at least re-released Xanadu.

I think they should have at least one Broadway recording. Most other shows who perform in London and New York have 2 different recordings; I don't know why Mamma Mia! is any different. I'd love to have the original Broadway cast on one album.

ya that's true, especially since it was such a hit, wouldnt be surprised if they make a vegas cast like starlight express and effex did!
BillyLawlor I couldn't agree more. While the London cast was alright, I really wish they had put out a Broadway cast one!
Yes, it a real shame that they never did an OBC recording. It's pretty much too late now since almost all of the original Broadway cast is long gone. The Las Vegas cast was equally amazing, but have since lost some of their original cast members, including several leads. Oh well, can't cry over spilled milk.
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA never had a Broadway cast recording either. I was always a little upset about that. But, lots of shows don't have Broadway cast recordings. STARLIGHT EXPRESS, ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER...etc, etc.
Basically they're just releasing the encore! stuff, but why does it list "Waterloo" as a reprise???

no sorry
here's the tracklist
Mamma Mia! 5th Anniversary Edition
(Universal - on CD)
U.K. re-release of London cast recording with bonus tracks: re-recorded version of the title track, and new versions of "Dancing Queen" and "Waterloo." Available at Amazon.com 4/19.
A new version of Dancing Queen? Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!
I'll be sure to prepare my neighbors next door.
I wasn't a fan of the OLC recording, but I suppose since it's the 5th anniversary of its London debut, it would sort of be awkward to have the OBC singing, eh?
yah i guess that wouldn't make sense but I think if they were gonna spend the money to do another recording then it should be with a different cast. It just doesn't make much sense this way...

I thought Mamma Mia was a great and fun show. The story was not THAT bad. It reminded me of the early comedies of the 20s and 30s when it was fluff and fun.
Has anyone actually heard the new cd? Who is in the cast these days? Anyone know if it's being released in North America?
