Update: Thursday, October 24

I am currently 6th in line for the matinee show. Been waiting since 9:05am. It seems the others ahead of me have been waiting much longer. Was told that none of the cast members are taking SRO tickets. As of 9:38am, there are 2 SRO tickets available for the 2pm matinee show. No one seems to be waiting for the evening show, at least not yet.

Update: 9:46am 7 people joined for the regular tickets. One person joined behind me and is grabbing the last two tickets. All SRO tickets for the matinee show have been claimed. One person is waiting for the evening show which leaves 2 or 3 SRO tickets left.

Update: 10:01am Looks like the person waiting for the evening show has left.

The show is spectacular- any chance to see this is one I would recommend- it is that great.

When I went, they started the evening SRO line after all 9 of the matinee spots were taken. They would sell them either at 2:30pm or after there were enough people in line to fill 9 spots.

2 tickets per person.

FYI- they are definitely selling these even when the show is not sold out. I was confused when the box office treasurer told me they were all sold out of SRO but offered me 99 dollar seats. Can they do this? Isn’t SRO usually reserved for sold out shows?

Has anyone tried SRO for today (11/08)? I was thinking of going during lunch, but it seems to be random when they are available!

Just out of curiosity, had you ever seen the 2001 movie of ''Moulin Rouge''? The whole conceit of it (and the stage version) is that it's an old-fashioned love story done with modern pop songs. Were you expecting an original period score? Anyway, I bet the modern pop songs are a major reason for its success, and the updated playlist, which now includes Lady Gaga, Adele, Rihanna, etc., has actually introduced a new generation to ''Moulin Rouge!''

I haven’t actively disliked a show like I did while watching Moulin Rouge in a long time. It’s inane, exhausting, and besides stellar design, a 1 dimensionalVegasshow.

Why this theme park show has gotten a pass from the BroadwayWorld Elite is BEYOND me. To each their own, I guess. I can’t imagine waiting in line to then stand for this, though. It’s just not worth it. At all."



Gee I wish you would have posted this BEFORE I bought my tickets to see if for a 3rd time! If I'd have known how bad it was, I guess I wouldn't have stupidly loved every minute of it. Tomorrow I'll be giving extra special thanks for you and the rest of the "Tastemasters" of BWW who wisely tell us commoners which shows not to waste our time on!

How does waiting for SRO at Moulin Rouge work? Do you have to stand out in the cold for over five hours or something like that? Or do they let you into the theatre to wait? Also, has anyone ever gone to wait for SRO and been refused a ticket? I really want to do this at some point but not if I'm not guaranteed a SRO ticket; I'd be traveling a distance to do it. Thanks for reading; I'm clueless about this stuff lol.

Also I believe that Moulin Rouge was initially only offering standing room only if the show was entirely sold out. I don’t know if that is still the case.

i got 2 SRO tickets last sunday and i’ll try to explain everything:

- i arrived at the box office around 10:45 and there was only one person in front of me and she wanted 1 single ticket
- we waited until 12 and when the box office was about to open someone from the theatre went outside and told us to form a different line, only for SRO tickets, because at that time the line was long and mixed with the one for regular tickets.

they only have 6 sro spots avaliable and you won’t have a lot of space like the other shows usually have. you can buy 2 tickets per person, but they will only sell the 6 spots at the same time. we had to wait until one more person arrived to get ours.

we paid $50 each ticket and all the spots are at the far corner of the room. lthe lightning/sound table is located in the middle. the actors come and go all the time and they wait right behind you to get on the stage.

that was my experience in a SUNDAY and it was a really cold day. the girl that was in front of me told me that she passed through the theater on Saturday and the line was absurdly huge.

the view from my spot was great, and the details i missed were not important at all. i talked to one of the ushers to ask if i could sit in any empty seats after the intermission like i usually do in other shows. he said i could but unfortunately there was no empty seats that night. maybe you guys will be luckier.
