Hi,
Anyone know if MR has SRO yet? If so, what time do they sell them, etc.
Thanks!

Not sure if they’ve started selling yet, but I’ve heard that the standing room price will be $70

This is insane.
Playbill doesn’t have Standing Room listed for Moulin Rouge!, yet.

UPDATE: AS OF THURSDAY, AUG 8TH THEY HAVE STANDING ROOM TICKETS
I’ve been waiting outside since about 9am, and as soon as the box office opened at 10, I asked and they said that YES they do have standing room tickets available, but only if the show is 100% sold out. So I’m still waiting outside, hoping and praying that the 2PM matinee sells out so I can get a standing room ticket!
(I’m still the only person in the SRO line and the show starts in a little over an hour. It still hasn’t sold out yet, but I’m trying to stay positive...)
I’ll keep you updated!

Update: No luck
It did end up selling out, and they kept on saying “10 more minutes” and then eventually came out 5 minutes before curtain and told us they wouldn’t be doing standing room. So that really sucked. 5 hours in line for nothing... But hey that’s the risk you take I guess.

Surprise! Moulin Rouge DID sell SRO tickets tonight for $50! I was outside the box office from about 4:30 PM until 7:45 PM, which is when they finally sold me two tickets (each person can purchase two tickets). They had 8 total SRO tickets available.
Due to the fact that every single seat in the theatre MUST be sold in order for the SRO to be sold, it’s very hard to tell when it’s going to be sold. You just have to take the gamble.
Furthermore, upon talking to the Box Office Manager, SRO may only be temporary and not a permanent policy due to the fact the actors utilize the aisles and back of the theatre throughout the show. If they feel as though SRO will jeopardize the safety and well-being of the actors, they most likely will discontinue this policy!
I hope this post is helpful and I’ll be happy to answer any and all questions you may have! (Or at least try to!)
What was your experience of standing room during the show? I did standing room for Kinky Boots in that theater and didn’t mind it except for the fact that I’d thrown my back out three days previous.

I honestly didn’t think it was bad at all! My friend and I were placed on the far left side of the orchestra and we feel like we didn’t miss much, of anything, at all!!
I went over and talked to the other people I was on line with that were placed on the right side of the orchestra and they felt the same way as us!
I generally do not like to be a voice of “negative” or “complaining” commentary here, or come across as ungrateful, but come on. I know the two are vastly different shows, and in different theaters, but I truly hope they do not discontinue the SRO policy. To Kill A Mockingbird also has actors utilizing the aisles for the show and there was nothing unsafe about those actors walking around and entering behind us in the SRO section. Between a nearly impossible to win lottery, and an absolutely absurd price of 90.00 being the least expensive tickets available, that many run of the mill people cannot afford, there’s no reason they shouldn’t be able to offer a more affordable option.
Then I guess take what the box office says with a grain of salt... she very clearly told me at 6 pm they would not be doing them that night, and not to bother coming back to check.
Ticket prices for general admission are just outrageously high. But I guess if you can get the tourists to pay for them...…..

I am planning on doing SRO this weekend. Has anyone asked the box office to see if they’re doing that today? Thanks!

and you can't go online to check how well the show you're planning on standing at is selling by yourself because....???

Unrelated. OP can, of course, check availability but considering the on and off response from the box office as to if they are even offering SRO in general (sold out or not)... it’s a very reasonable question to ask if anyone has been by the theater to see if they’re even offering it at all.

Any update?
FYI, Hair played the same theater and sold SRO with actors using the aisles and back of theater so it makes no sense why they won't allow it.
