Movin Out confirmed at Londons Apollo Victoria Theatre playing from March until July 2006.
Wicked is expected to premiere at the theatre after Movin Outs limited season. Wicked is expected to preview from End of October 2006.
Spamalot is also headed to London in 2006 at the likley home of The Palace (according to a friend of mine who auditioned for the London cast this week) Opens September 2006
Avenue Q opens in June 2006 at The Novello Theatre in London aswell! Casting being completed as we speak!
Hairspray also eager to get into London again after its second hopeful date of October 2005 at The Cambridge fell through, hope London get this too!New time frame is Spring 2007 (in time for hoped movie too!)
Its like the Best of Broadway moves to London in 2006!!

Avenue Q in London... I don't think it would do well over there. I mean, it's a very American story, but the story is an appealing one. Let's wish it well. (I haven't seen the show.)
Wicked in London might do well. I mean, it's a very American origin it's coming from, but the story af Wizard of Oz was better well recieved over there, I heard. We'll see.

Posted: 12/7/05 at 7:21amI don't think Wicked will do too well because The Wizard of Oz is the popular movie here, while Chitty Bang Bang is the popular thing there. And Chitty is already closing here.

Posted: 12/7/05 at 7:34amWell Chitty didn't exactly set the UK alight either and was at best a "soft" hit, like Mary Poppins has turned out to be as well. And the much ballyhooed transfer of I Am My Own Wife has folded in 4 weeks when it was originially announced for 4 months. London is a wasteland right now, which is a shame. Hopefully the revival of Woolf bucks the trend when it opens there next month. I know the last time Turner appeared on the UK stage, you could not get a ticket for love nor money.

Posted: 12/7/05 at 8:04amI have the impression that the reviews by London critics for the Broadway Avenue Q have been very positive, which would bode well for its critical reception in London.

Movin' Out is confirmed with dates on the link below. How it'll fare in the barn of the Apollo Victoria (2,313 seats) is anyones guess...

Posted: 12/7/05 at 9:55amThe Apollo Vic is mahoosive, but in Broadway stylee, only has the two levels of Orchestra and Mezzanine so it seems a lot less barn like than other theatres there of similar size.

Posted: 12/7/05 at 12:32pmI don't know about Sara Ramirez coming to London though I have to say I think they would be hard pushed to find someone who could perform it like she could over there. Tim Curry isn't going to make the trip over though. My guess is Simon Russell Beale will bring the show to London.

Posted: 12/7/05 at 12:39pmAre they casting English dancers in MOVIN OUT, or are they taking over the Broadway cast?
#10re: MOVIN OUT TO LONDON & other Broadway shows Move In !
Posted: 12/7/05 at 12:45pmThat I don't know but given the 2 dance oriented shows I have seen the London and Broadway productions of, I would say they'd be better off bringing over the Broadway cast. THAT SAID, I haven't seen Movin' Out, so if they just need straight dancers rather than double or triple threats, they could easily cast it in the UK.

Good for MOVIN' OUT!
As far as SPAMALOT goes, Sara has a TV project so she most likely won't be going over.

Posted: 12/7/05 at 1:02pmThis is kinda off topic, but whatever: what show is taking the place of Movin Out in NY. I hope it's the Drowsy Chaperone. That show needs to come to broadway.

"London is a wasteland right now"
There are over forty plays or musicals at the moment in London -not including the Fringe. So I don't really recognize that as a wasteland....

"But nobody's going to see them, was my point."
SWET has recently announced that attendance is up by about 10% from last year - despite a blip after the London bombings. So obviously someone is.

Posted: 12/7/05 at 2:12pmMy guess is that could be some positive PR spin to try and woo people back and they're fudging the numbers. I know some shows are doing reasonably well, but others are dying on their feet.

Posted: 12/7/05 at 2:23pmIt's one of many many rumors circulating. I had heard a while back that Spamalot would go into the Adelphi but now I hear they want the Palace. Who knows?

It certainly hasn't been my experience, I go to the theatre in London, once or twice a week and things are healthy. Having seen the numbers they really don't need a good spin

As already stated, CHICAGO will close at the Adelphi on 22nd April and transfer to Cambridge from 25 April.
SPAMALOT will open at the Palace in early Autumn 2006, WICKED will follow Movin'Out into the Apollo Vic and Lloyd Webber's new revival of SOUND OF MUSIC will follow Sinatra at the London Palladium. HAIRSPRAY and DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS are now trying for transfers
