Well they recently announced Dr. Zhivago the musical for 2015. Can he sing?
He could take his shirt off on Broadway. I'd watch that.

I watched him and Meryl Davis last season on DWTS and they were mesmerizing!
Loved their dances: http://youtu.be/m8eAuQdjvmw
I heard they're dancing again in NY at SwayShow.com. That would definitely be a good show.
LOTS of people want to act on Broadway. Doesn't mean they can or should.
Has he DONE any acting? Or professional singing? Of course the man can dance, but that's just not enough.

In the article. Maks states he doesn't want to do a musical. He wants to act. That said, he's done some work on soap operas.
I think he'd be inspired as the Russian dance teacher in YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU. It would be an easy fit for him.

Good for Maks. Give him props for being willing to 'start over' and work on the craft of acting. Not easy to take on something new requiring different skills than his previous work- and do so with the public knowing about it.
I think he'd be great at physical comedy... throw back to the 'screwball comedy' era. Would also love to see a remake of Dirty Dancing... Big Screen or adapted as a play.

There has been a stage adaptation of DIRTY DANCING touring for some time. There were plans to bring it to Broadway but that seems to have fallen apart. People who've seen the show say it wasn't Broadway material.

Didn't know there was already a stage adaptation of DD, Dollypop. Thanks for that info. Pity it wasn't done better and worthy of B-way. It's a great, classic BMG story and incredible dance- it deserves better, imo.

A red flag went up when he said, "That would be the best possible training - to do something eight times a week in front of a live audience." He might do well to get some training and experience prior to throwing his hat in the ring for a Broadway play.

What you're saying is very true but stunt casting is very common on Broadway. Do you think Usher, Huey Lewis or any of the "celebrity" Billy Flynn's had training at Juilliard?
In the right role, Maks would do quite well. I've seen him live on stage several times and he has true stage presence.

Well, he HAS done something 8x week on Broadway. Twice. Burn the Floor and Forever Tango. For BTF he was nominated for the Fred Astaire Award for Outstanding Male Dancer in a Broadway Show.
Neither was a speaking role, though.

I would love to see him take over the role of Boris in YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU. The role is an easy fit for him: a Russian dance instructor. The play may need a boost in the box office after the holidays when box office receipts traditionally slump.

I wish Maks read this message thread! Some good ideas, like the role of Boris on 'You Can't Take It With You'!
Do know he was a big draw for the B-way shows he was in. Can only imagine he'd be the same for any production.

I suggested the role of Boris to Maks when I did the interview. Both he and his publicist (Lizzie Grubman) showed great enthusiasm for the idwa.
