Jerry Herman reports he is talks with a producer about developing the show. Last year the Menier spoke about doing this but thought it needed more thought. Now with La Cage on Broadway and Jerry Herman at hand, I'm wondering if the Menier will do it this year?
I wonder who'd they'd cast as Mame?
My vote would go to Sally Ann Tripllet or Linzi Hately...but to sell tickets and for a huge buzz, Catherine Zeta Jones... if she'd agree to the Menier!
If they got Zeta Jones, a possibility and I would personally be in 7th heaven if they did, they could pretty much guarantee a transfer and a bigger production when it moves to the West End. Its about the only way a revival would sell I think in a big west end house
Dont really know the show, but if they do it id see it.
Most of the shows that the Menier has done in small scale have been fine. I loved La Cage - it worked in the space extremely well. However, and I am not one for spectacle for the sake of it, Mame needs a big cast, a big show and a big space.
