Can't wait to see her at the Pantages on December 6th and I too love Alma Cuervo. So glad she's playing Morrible in LA.
I'm not sure Alma will be with the show that long. I heard she is just a fill in like she did on the 2NT when Jody took a 3 week vacation.
OMFG...total Fan boy moment here
but if you look on THAT site and do some searching...you can hear her first "Defying Gravity"
can I just say that she is most likely going to be one of the best Elphaba's ever?
Seriously, her voice is so frigging solid and clear, but she has so many new little riffs that are brilliant. The first two verses (something has changed....I'm through accepting limits) are brilliant but what is truly the winner is her flying verse.
She sticks mainly to the score it seems (that will prolly change when she gets more comfortable in the role) but holy jesus, her voice is so insanely powerful and the little touches she has in the phrasing are brilliant.
And on a side note...the orchestra that night was really rocking it out.
I just looked on THAT site and couldn't find anything... I am actually excited to see this in March just to see her Saw her in 9 to 5 and I LOVED her. Such a great performer.
I saw Mamie for a second time at last night's show (also the final show of the Atlanta engagement), and her performance had improved by leaps and bounds over the night before. Like the previous poster said, she does a lot of original things with the score, which keeps things interesting. Her No Good Deed last night was nothing short of fantastic. She really acts the song more than any Elphaba I have seen, and you can feel her vocal coming from a place of anger and frustration and pain. I'm sure her performance will change once she has performed it more, but she definitely has the potential to be incredible.
