My husband and I are coming to NY and we're seeing Mamma Mia (my favourite). Just wondering on what's the current cast like?
Thanks.

You need to be more date specific. If you're planning on seeing the show in a few months, the current cast could have changed by then.

Posted: 6/20/08 at 1:34pmHaving seen the current cast (sans Carrie) I can say that they are great. However, I have nothing to comapre them with because they are the first cast of this show that I have seen. I am interested in seeing carrie now that she has taken over for Carey Anderson who left to do Avenue Q. I am also looking foward to seeing Carey in Avenue Q.

I saw Carrie Manolakos and liked her as Sophie.

Posted: 6/20/08 at 1:45pmReally? I thought she was good but I didn't like her as much. I've never heard anything negative about Carolee Carmello or Judy McLane

Judy McLane has mastered sheer perfection in the role of Tanya. She fully engulfs the role and makes her moments on stage, magical ones. Her "Does Your Mother Know?" is sheer bliss.
Here are the current ladies:

Carrie with Corey Greenan in the US Tour of MAMMA MIA!:
How did your casting in Mamma Mia come about? What in your college and training prepared you for this tour?
Carrie: My casting in Mamma Mia is kind of a strange story. I was in college at the time at NYU and as part of the curriculum in our third year, we had a worshop class where casting directors came give us feedback on a "mock audition". I happened to sing for Eric Woodall, who is the casting director for Mamma Mia. I had always thought to myself that I wanted to graduate before I actually went out and auditioned for anything. But I got a call a couple of months later to come in for Mamma Mia. I went on my first audition and it went really well. I had to more auditions after that and 10 days after my third audition, I found myself in Winnipeg, Canada as a part of the Mamma Mia company. I am currently on a leave of absence from NYU, with only 6 credits left, and I will finish when I return to New York City.

I have been fortunate enough to see Carrie Manolakos on broadway twice and she is amazing! Her voice is by far one of the strongest in the cast and she brings new energy and depth to the role of Sophie.
I HIGHLY recommend everyone seeing her on broadway ASAP!
BTW...anyone know how long she is signed on to play the role of Sophie?

Thank you for the update! Any idea if she (Manolakos) is being considered to continue on with the role of Sophie? Or she is moving on to other shows?
Thanks again for the 411!

Someone else is taking over the role of Sophie. I can't remember her name but she is a redhead like Carolee. I don't know what Carrie's future plans are.
