how's the set? does the floor light up? and does the little platform get raised when sophie is talking to one of her dads during the dance sequence.

I haven't seen the tour since it was in Ottawa last summer...but I will say this...the cast then was very strong. I had a marvelous time.

If you are looking for the "full out" Mamma though, be warned...Tour 2 is very scaled down. No moon, no lifting platform, and very fewer Vari-Lights in the finale, which is blocked weird since the set can't go as far back, or off stage as the other North American productions have had. That said, even with the technical elements missing...it's still a fun, fluffy, hoot of a show. I would reccomend checking it out.

Aw that's disappointing. I don't get why they scale tours down. If it was making money before with the "larger" set, why not keep touring it? that way people enjoy it more.

Laurie Wells is fabulous. The entire cast is very strong. I saw the show in December in Seattle.

the curent tour of mamma mia takes only hours to set up and take doen while tour one which was slighty scaled down from the bway set took about 2.5 days making the stops longer. It played to mostly larger cities for more that an 2 months at a time. tour 2 the current tour is just as talented but play to far more cities and have as little as 4 day runs so for them to play a theatre for four days and have a set up/tear down lasting 5 would make NO SENSE. Seeing all three productions its safe to say thay whatever tour or permant show you have see, it is sure to be a GREAt fun light haerted show that will have you dancing and singing in your car on the ride home
Enjoy!!!!

i agree the floor and the lights are worth the trip to bway or vegas, however casting wise tour two really is GREAT!!! Lauire WELLS as donna is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!!!

not only do the tour sets have to break down easily...they have to FIT many different size theaters.
i think most people wouldn't even know the difference or care if they hadn't seen the bway show. bway shows have sets custom designed for the theater they are playing.
on the road..there are MANY variables...so sometimes things need to be eliminated or scaled down! no biggie!
and LAURIE WELLS is AWESOME!!!!

I saw the tour this afternoon... it was great. Yes, it was slightly scaled down: no light-up floor, no raised platform, no big awesome moon. But I don't think anyone would have noticed if they didn't know what was missing. Laurie Wells was awesome - she has a powerhouse voice. I was a bit disappointed with Carrie Manolakos' voice, but I think she might have just been having an off day. She didn't seem to have the breath support she needed for several songs, but her acting was great!

Marlene Handrahan was in for Tanya - she was great but it was a little strange having a Tanya that was shorter than the other 2 Dynamos! Kurt Andrew Hansen was in for Harry and he was great too.

They were raising $$ for BC/EFA and were selling signed posters, pins, and aprons. They also had the Donna & the Dynamos poster from that performance for $50. Of course, you could get photos with Tanya & Harry for $15.

All in all, a great show - the audience loved it.

I just saw the Mamma Mia tour last night in Raleigh and I LOVED it! It was 100x better than the tour that came through here 2 years ago. And, I even think it was better than the show I saw in London in 2000, with many of the original cast members (although I didn't see the original Donna). OK...some of the leads and the set were better in London. But, this touring cast is just flawless. They have great comedic timing, the choreography was perfect, and they kept the energy level high throughout the whole show. I highly recommend it!!!
