I was on the Mamma Mia site looking at NYC cast and I couldn't help realizing that alot of the ensemble got their Broadway debut through Mamma Mia. Is this just a coincidence or is Mamma Mia use to hiring and giving chances to new comers?

Ensemble members in any shows are often making their Broadway debut. It's not that the shows want to give aspiring actors their shot.

Cheap(er) labor. "Newcomers" won't try to negotiate above minimum.
