It opened Dec 5 2002 and closed Aug 31 2003. It ran for 304 performances. Won the Tony for best revival of a musical. Both Mastrantonio and Mitchell were nominees in the bets actor catagories. The show grossed an average of $500K weekly during it's run.
To be correct: MOLM did not win the Tony for best Revival. It was nominates but lost to that terrible production of Nine. (Just my opinion).
Despite the set which captured the inquisition prison setting but neglected the rest of the story, the cast did a wonderful job. I saw it with Marin as well and she just blew me away. Now she was good in Kiss Me Kate but I was completely stunned by her Aldonza. Ernie Sabella was such a delight. He looks like a natural Sancho and he is just a wonderful comic actor. The entire cast are some of the nicest people out of character as well.
Margo, As much as you try to convince me my position remains. You can keep trying though (smiles). Like I said I have no qualms with Kiley's acting. His characterization was absolutely wonderful. Stokes didn't kill the character. And I loved his contrast between Cervantes and Quixote. My problem (well problem is not a good word) is with Kiley's singing. There should be more character. He just seemed one sided. No embellishment. He just sang the notes on the page for the duration of the note. Vocally he is great but you just can't sing the notes on the page. The notes are just an outline for what you bring to it. Music is sooooooooo much more. If only we could go back and he could do that I would be 100% complete. Everytime I listen I keep hoping that it will change and be all better but then I snap into reality and realize that a recording can't change.

I completely give up with technology. I went back to change nominates to nominated and it posted my message twice. That combined with the fact that Finale 2004 is terrible and I can't figure out how to work it forces me to never touch a computer again.
