It's the 1st computer-animated musical... May have been posted before, but I wouldn't call it exactly off-topic.

Well, things like GLEE, Patrick Swayze's death, the need for monologues and song choices, and the best colleges for musical theatre aren't necessarily BROADWAY related either, but you see those topics all over the board.

millie_dillmount, calm down.

ILOHTFAHA, thanks for the information. I didn't know about it.

Yeah in all fairness, half the stuff that pops up in BWW's news feed and BWW TV isn't Broadway related....

Mandy is a big fan of Broadway though, did anybody see her version of Suddenly Seymour with Adam Pascal...

I love Mandy!

Yes, unfortunately. It was tragic.

But I agree, who cares if something's not entirely Broadway-related. Plus, we always get news about American Idol on here because Adam Lambert was on it and now because of Kristin Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris are set to appear on it.

Uhhh, Lea Michele (of GLEE) and Patrick Swayze both have Broadway credits. And the best colleges for musical theater/song choice threads tend to be directed to the student boards.

But enough about whether it is on or off topic - you're right who cares? My mistake. But it was already posted, and I provided a link to the original thread (which is what people typically do and have done when they claim something has been posted before).

Muscle: I saw her version of Suddenly Seymour and didn't care for it that much. I never really cared for Mandy Moore's voice that much period, but that's just my opinion.

millie_dillmount, I agree. I've never really been the biggest fan of Mandy's voice. While I love her...I don't think she's the strongest vocalist. But, she is adorable.

I just went back to watch the video on YouTube, and it was really weird to hear her sing it. Luckily, they'll enhance her voice in the movie so she won't sound as bad.

Personality-wise, I think she matches the part in the movie well.

I've seen the dreaded suddenly seymour as well, but did you see her Adelaide? or listen to her albums? and she's come a far way since that (that was at least 8 years ago, huh?) and she's a great girl. I'm pretty excited.
*edit: just looked it up, it was 8 years ago, she was like, 17...I couldn't sing that song at 17, and this was when she was still doing crappy pop music and tiny voiced soprano stuff: see "walk to remember")

hey, at least it's not britney or jessica!!!!

Well, I mean, she has an interest in Broadway. But I agree, I didn't like her Suddenly Seymour either.

"hey, at least it's not britney or jessica!!!"

To compare Britney with a soprano with a 3.6 octave range is quite odd. They are both tabloid queens and I find both of them equally annoying, but one is a singer, the other one is an entertainer.

I saw her Adelaide's Lament and it wasn't too bad actually. Definitely not as awful as the Suddenly Seymour. I've never had anything against her, just saying since that song was mentioned. Hell, I remember when Mandy Moore first started out. And I admit I still like the movie A Walk to Remember and adore her "Only Hope." Didn't she actually turn down a Broadway role (was it Glinda in Wicked?) because she knew she didn't have what it takes (especially after that Seymour fiasco)? I haven't listened to her recent music, but actually I just remembered I just watched the movie Dedication and was surprised at how great she was in that movie. So kudos to her on that.

Jessica Simpson has a 3.6 octave range?? just because you can make noise all over the scale doesn't mean I want to hear it :/

She did say she turned down Wicked because she knew she didn't have what it takes. I personally couldn't believe someone even offered it to her, knowing the range Glinda sings (or Galinda :) ). While she has a cute voice and I like how she seems to do her own thing lately with her album, there are certainly Broadway parts she could not handle. With that said, there are a lot she could take on and do well, and I'm sure they'll tailor the songs in the movie to her range.

"...and this was when she was still doing crappy pop music and tiny voiced soprano stuff: see 'walk to remember'."

True dat.

I love her voice. Her most recent records (Wild Hope and Amanda Leigh) kind of redeem the whole tiny-voiced wannabe days for me. I think she'll do a great job. She's done voice work before, so it shouldn't be that much of a drag.

The Suddenly Seymour performance was terrible. I've seen Mandy sing her own material live, though, and she sounded great. It's a limited range, but she knows what to do with it now. Also, love her last few CDs.

I wasn't really following the Rapunzel thing so I'm totally neutral. I'm Mandy positive, but I'm sure I would have been Kristin positive too. Mandy sounds ridiculously sweet though, so you can't top that for "princess".
