Is Mandy attached to something coming to Broadway this season?? Anyone have an inside scoop? Love him, and would love to see him on stage for the first time!

My first guess would be Finding Neverland.
I don't know if he can pull off Sextimus in Forum.

Posted: 7/29/14 at 1:37pmAt this year's New Dramatists' luncheon, there was a song presented from a workshop of a 2-person (I think post-apocalytpic?) musical that Mandy was working on, directed by Susan Stroman. I wouldn't have thought that could/would be ready in time for the 2014-15 season, though.

With Taylor Mac!
I saw it last December and it's a really fascinating piece of work. (I admire Taylor Mac very much and Taylor and Mandy were amazing together. I had hoped to go back to Boston to see it again-it's a piece that's evolving. I'd wanted to go back a second time as I'd heard that the songs they used varied a bit from performance to performance.)

Posted: 7/29/14 at 2:12pmNo matter what it is, I'm going to be pretty pissed if the gig at the ART gets cancelled. It was a huge reason for getting season tickets.

Posted: 7/29/14 at 4:45pmI love Danny Burstein, but how I wish to see Patinkin in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. Obviously, that's a pipe dream though. Would love to see him on stage.

Speaking of a pipe dream, I would love to see him in PIPE DREAM.
Also, I think if GIGI is still coming, that could be likely, but Mandy can do anything that he wants and be amazing in it.

Posted: 7/29/14 at 7:56pmI enjoy Mandy Patinkin when he has a strong director around who can reign him in and keep the Mandy-isms out of his performance.

Posted: 7/29/14 at 8:02pmI, for one, think that his signature Mandy-isms are what make his performances so unique and interesting. He essentially forces everyone else on stage to be fully in character by going so far into character himself.

Posted: 7/29/14 at 8:06pmThat's ridiculous and is excusing his horrible treatment of his fellow cast members. You cannot do those things and expect people will just take it. Repugnant.

I love him and his -isms. I understand he's difficult to work with, but I don't think I have to worry too much about that aspect!
I've seen him more often in his own concerts rather than acting roles but was lucky enough to catch him in the original SITPWG (where I fell in love with him) as well as in The Tempest a few years ago off b'way.

Posted: 7/29/14 at 8:34pmI think we're talking about a previous Mandy here. He has acknowledged how horrible he was and has talked about how much he's changed.

Posted: 7/29/14 at 8:36pmHe is scheduled to do a week of the Apocalyptic Vaudeville show in Texas in February. Maybe he is touring around the country with it and so there are all these rumors about a possible return to Broadway when in reality he is just touring with his vaudeville show and not returning to New York?

I would love it if Apocolyptic Vaudeville came for a fully staged (ie, longer then the version I saw in December!) tour or sit down in New York. I though it was a lot of fun and when you consider how unlikely the cast and content were, it was pretty successful. Taylor Mac played really well off of Mandy and it just....I don't know how to really articulate it, but the show smiled. It made smile, reconnect to music I love, and think. Plus, I've never not liked a William Ivey Long costume and I'm quickly becoming a Beowulf Boritt fan.
I could see how people didn't/won't like it (my boyfriend was perplexed by it and thought it was an "interesting" use of REM music), but I really think it could have a successful run in the city for the spring/summer.
Beyond that, I'm interested in seeing the Mandy who admits he made poor choices and says he's changed. Interviews with home during Homeland's run thus far do make him seem more mellow.
