Excellent article!
Thanks for posting that Craig.
Sensational! Simply sensational!
Finally -- someone talks frankly about why Harvey didn't get Edna for the film-adaption of HAIRSPRAY, and why John Travolta did. Loved his comment about Harvey having Edna for the rest of his life. Can't wait to see him play her again in 20 years.
Good to read the strong emphasis on his film work as most only know or first heard of Marc thru HAIRSPRAY. Most had no idea he was scoring films for years or had such a close professional involvement with this Bette Midler lady.
Gotta love the Shaiman.
Have enjoyed his work ever since his unforgettable cameo in Broadcast News...
"No, the producers' big idea was "let's get John Travolta" and as soon as the movie studio heard that, that was it, they didn't even want to think about anyone else."
Is this the same producer who thought Matthew Broderick would be great in The Music Man and Brandy would make a wonderful Cinderella?
thanks, great interview
I love that song called "WHAT MAKES A FAMILY" from the movie Stuart Saves his family. In fact, that soundtrack cd is a superb and the theme is lovely.. this song is also the best theme from the score and one of Marc´s best beautiful themes..
I also love his scores for 61*, George of the Jungle and more and more...
Im writing a new review for MY GIANT score soon.. youll can read it on http://www.marcshaiman.net
