The day that happens is the day I lose all faith in Broadway.

Don't laugh, but Mariah Carey is seriously being considered to replace Ashley Judd if the current revival of CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF extends its run.

From what I've heard, she could give Ashley Judd a run for her money. That's not meant as a complement to Mariah Carey...

For those who have no idea about Mariah's stage plans (and if you do then apologies for all my column plugs!):

Carey considering Rattigan's THE SLEEPING PRINCE in London?
I suppose the logic is that since the character is a Edwardian ear showgirl, and played by the great Monroe on film, then Mariah can surely do it.
Logic? Ah, the madness!!
Bulldog.

You know what, I don't think Mariah is a TERRIBLE actress!! I sat through Glitter, and even though it wasnt FANTASTIC, I didn't think it was totally unwatchable!! The plot was thin, yeah, but still, I also sat through Crossroadss and that movie was much worse!!
But then again, what do I know ,I thought Beautiful Girl was adorable!! =P

I didn't hate Glitter. In fact, I liked it. YES! I'll admit it damn it! I actually watch it on purpose when I catch it on HBO. Glitter kind of reminds me of an 80's style "A Star is Born."

Wow, this is an old thread.
I can only assume that Mariah Carey's London acting plans fell through. In my own words - "a proposed West End debut", "The Sleeping Prince is hoped to open in March." PROPOSED! HOPED!

To quote Christmas Eve, "Ewww!"
Stephen Schwartz would have to have all his rights to Wicked stolen before Mariah plays so much as a munchkin in his show. Apparently they did not have the greatest collaboration during The Prince of Egypt.

I have much confidence in Mariah's singing let alone her acting. She needs to go back and work on her 1st craft before she ventures out and tries something new like acting.

That's as bad as a Spice girl in 'Rent', Or an N 'sync member in 'Rent'. Make it stop! *sigh*

She does have a good range, she just can't sing...at all...or act, for that matter. She likes to whisper, though, in extremely high octaves.
You know it and you want it... you just can't believe you've got it.

She'd have a nervous breakdown trying to do eight shows a week!
