Posted: 11/29/06 at 3:21pmI saw her two weekends ago and thought she was excellent. I love her voice and I think she is gorgeous. Diva's Lament was better than Find Your Grail, IMO. Also, going into the show, I was thinking that Mazzie would be the perfect replacement and that she would be as good as Sara was in the role...unfortunately, I was wrong. No one can touch Sara in this role, IMO, but Mazzie is certainly a more appropriate replacement than Kennedy was.

Posted: 11/29/06 at 3:25pmI saw this last week specifically to see Marin. Although she looked great and was very good vocally, I just felt that she was "trying" too hard in some ways. I really didn't care for the show at all. I just can't imagine how the understudies are in this role.

Posted: 11/29/06 at 4:01pmI saw her first performance (Halloween evening) and she was absolutely wonderful. She danced and sang beautifully and made it look completely effortless. I didn't feel she was pushing her comedy at all; she seemed naturally funny. She's definitely proven herself a gifted comedienne in the past with KISS ME KATE, KISMET et al and she's a fine replacement here.

I saw her last week too. She was very good (I never saw Sarah) but I just think the part itself is very forced. Marin was great in Ragtime and Kiss Me, Kate both parts were very demanding and in Kate, especially, she had high voice and comedy demands which in my opinion, she handled beautifully.
The Lady of the Lake is really not necessary after "Find your Grail" so her appearance in the production number as well as the "Diva's lament" just feel very forced. This is clearly a case of "we have a great singer girl, now what do we do with her?". I think this part was great for someone who is breaking into the Broadway leading/featured actress category, but seems way too smallish for an established leading lady like Mazzie.

I honestly had no intention of ever going back to Spamalot after the orginal cast departed, however, I am DYING to see Marin. I thought it was an awkward choice for the role, but even if people said she was the most god awful thing they had ever seen - I would still buy a full price ticket to see her.
Does anyone know how long she's contracted for? There is so much to see right now that it's not a priority, but I certainly don't want to miss her!
