Is there a possibility that she will receive 2 Tony Nominations this spring- for "How I Learned to Drive" and "The Sound Inside"?  I suspect the other nominees will be Laurie Metcalf (Virginia Woolf), Laura Linney ("Lucy Barton" and Sarah Jessica Parker ("Plaza Suite"...maybe Debra Messing for "Birthday Candles".

Anything is possible. At this point, I can't imagine her not receiving one for "Sound Inside".

I think there's a good change Parker will be nominated twice within the same category (which would be a first for an actor).  I believe the only other potential nominees are Audra McDonald for Frankie and Johnny, Zawe Ashton for Betrayal, Eileen Atkins for In the Height of the Storm, Jane Alexander for Grand Horizons, and potentially someone from The Minutes (I don't know how big each role is in that show).  Of this group, I think only Ashton and someone from The Minutes could realistically be nominated over one of the six performances previously mentioned.  So not that many realistic candidates for the five slots.  Parker could well do it.

There's also Marisa Tomei, who I think gave a performance that was worthy of a nomination in its own rite, but maybe not up against this competition. Plus the show will be long gone by then.

I think it would be great to see MLP get two nominations, but I'd be worried that her two performances would split the votes, which might cause her to not get nominated at all. I don't think that's particularly likely, but I do think it's an unfortunately possibility.

What about Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolff? I would think Metcalf would be a possibilityof a nomination too.

Mary Louise Parker was phenomenal in The Sound Inside and I would very happily love to see her win her second Tony for it. From what I hear, she was also excellent in How I Learned to Drive when it played off Broadway. So that’s a possibility too. I do wonder if she might be better off being only nominated once since if she gets nominated for both, it might split the vote. It reminds me of the year Kate Winslet won her Oscar for The Reader. I thought she was very good in that and exceptional in Revolutionary Road which she wasn’t even nominated for. However, I suspect that the fact that she gave too great performances in the span of a year, helped her win for the one performance she was actually nominated for.

The OP mentioned Metcalf, whom I would say is pretty much a lock for a nomination. 

As a side-note, it's interesting that Metcalf and Linney will be going up against each other again, like they did a few years ago. I personally thought Linney should have taken it that year, especially since Metcalf ended up winning again the following year. I can't imagine Metcalf not getting a nomination for Virginia Woolf, and I'm sure she would even be a strong contender to win, but I wonder if her chances at winning will be harmed by the fact that she's already won twice in the last 4 years. They may not feel like they need to vote for her to win again.

I haven't seen Lucy Barton yet, but I'd love to see Linney finally get her long overdue Tony on her 5th nomination.

And yet, going back to the subject of this thread, Parker seems to be taking this season by storm, and I would not be at all disappointed if she took home the Tony.

Aw. My apologies. Not sure how I missed that OP already mentioned Metcalf. I’m blaming exhaustion. I had just woken up after falling into bed after I got home from my flight last night and hadn’t had my coffee yet.

She could, hopefully they won't. It sounds cool in theory but I worry about it splitting the vote.
