Holy (censored). If ever there was a choice, in my mind, that beat Cate Blanchett...

I LOVE her. however, isn't she a bit "off" for the role? I like Hedda strong and bitchy, not flighty and weird like every character Mary Louise Parker portrays. I'm excited to see her though, and really hope she proves me wrong.

Sorry to be the spoilsport and I certainly wish Parker no harm, but somehow I suspect the complexity of Hedda may be beyond her MLP's abilities. I love the play and will go. Hoping that Roundabout surrounds her with worthy players.
I love her and this is one of my favorite plays!!!
YEAH!
gahh i love her! i'm so excited!
I'm sorry, I think Parker is one of the most brilliant actresses working today. I'm definitely going to NY to see this.
She's my favorite actress, so clearly I'm estatic over this news.
And the fact that she killed Hirschfeld should not reflect badly on her talent!

Augh...... Why don't I live in NYC?????
I really need to see this. I read Hedda Gabler in a class last year and was one of the only people to enjoy it. I really like Mary-Louis Parker and would love to see what she'd do in this role.
I was just thinking...will there be a third show at the American Airlines Theatre this season?
Or will we get a summer show next season a la Old Acquaintance?
Excited for this!

I don't understand what that means.
Just to clarify...
She's still doing "Weeds", right?
Love her, and it starts during my winter break :)
She is indeed doing WEEDS, the show just got renewed for two more seasons. She'll be doing this during the show's hiatus.
She did DEAD MAN'S CELL PHONE at the beginning of the year around the same time.
this is freaking awesome!!!!!!!

What a piece of crap that was.
I have not had a positive reaction to her work but this should be very interesting.

To put this casting in an historical context, here's a list of actresses (by no means complete) who have played the title role of HEDDA GABLER in high-profile productions on stage, screen or TV:
Tallulah Bankhead, Annette Bening, Ingrid Bergman, Cate Blanchett, Claire Bloom, Kate Burton, Judy Davis, Glenda Jackson, Kelly McGillis, Martha Plimpton, Diana Rigg, Fiona Shaw, Maggie Smith, Janet Suzman.
It's a notoriously difficult part to pull off and I give Mary Louise Parker a lot of credit for deciding to tackle it.
