Just wondering what is happening with Mary Poppins tour when it finishes in Cardiff? There is/was talk of Oz and Europe etc, but I also remember someone (Mama?) mentioning Bristol were close to having it for Christmas 09/10. But as theres a panto there now I was wondering if Mary will be returning to these shores?
As far as I know its tour is still on for Europe. Im sorry if I put it down as for Bristol for 2009/10, I actually meant 2010/11. Jez, doesnt that sound so far away!
she not as practicly perfect as she makes out she is, is she ? lol that had to be said ! i think its a great prodcution but every time she flies you want it to be her last !
I've answered a similar question on another message board today. Word from several officials/cast etc is: -The set going to Australia has been delayed, as not to clash with Wicked. -Shanghai has been talked about in the meantime. -A London, short, revival is being supported/discussed, but nothing concrete has yet surfaced from these discussions. Rumour has it the cast have been told it's happening, but some powers-that-be have denied this.
Having seen this tour lotsssss, I have to say it sold extremely well. I saw it at the Edinburgh Playhouse plenty of times (double figures) and it was nigh sold out every time - I struggled to get 1 single seat most of the time (the Playhouse fyi seats over 3000, and is the biggest theatre in the UK!). There is evidently a market for it here, even in a recession, so fingers crossed this is realised and it stays here for a while. That being said, it's all a bit hopeful.
I'd like to know where these new UK tour rumours are coming from? Sounds logical, but I don't want to get too excited, and things I've heard from good sources contradict them...
The rumours from Down Under are saying the Sydney production has been put off till 2010 if at all - to not clash with the plethora of hit shows opening/already playing (Wicked, Billy Elliot, Jersey Boys, Avenue Q, 9 to 5-supposedly a done deal, the Donmar Guys and Dolls tour etc).
This seems to be good news for the show in the UK though. Maybe a short European tour, and then bring it back in the second half of 09?
