there's also an identical article on BWW.
Except, that article was incorrect about some things. The Sydney production is opening in October 2009. However, that still won't be the sixth production. They're forgetting about the try-out in Bristol, the current Swedish production in Göteborg, the Danish production opening in København in January 2009, the Finnish production opening in Helsinki in January 2009, and the Hungarian production opening in Budapest in September 2009. They were also wrong about the location of Scheveningen. Scheveningen is considered to be a part of Den Haag, and it is about 60 km away from Amsterdam. Wow, it looks like Disney OWNS the Circus Theatre now. With "De Leeuw Koning," then "Tarzan" and now "Mary Poppins." A Dutch production was announced in December 2008, but now it's confirmed. That means that "Wicked" can DEFINITELY not go into the Circus Theatre! It will almost DEFINITELY be in the Joop Van Den Ende Theatre now! Back to "Mary Poppins", though. There are also productions planned for South Africa, China, Brazil, and Argentina! Musicals in Ahoy (Dutch musical revue show) actually did a Dutch version of "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" with Renee van Wegberg as Mary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPVk2_Eo9EM
I have not seen "Mary Poppins" outside of Broadway yet, but I may see the tour in Los Angeles next year. I doubt that I will be back in Copenhagen until next year (I'm here right now, though!). I was in Finland in October, but I don't know if I will be back soon. Maybe I will see the Hungarian and Australian productions.
By the way, a little off-topic, (but we were talking about The Netherlands, so it's appropriate) but isn't this the best rendition of "Lady's Maid" ever?

Sorry, I LOVE Titanic and I was just watching Dutch musicals.

Well because your more "cultured" then us then I guess that your able to go to all those places.
You mean someone as cultured as you has seen such an uncultured show as Mary Poppins? My jaw just dropped ten feet.

Still, every single one of her/his threads/posts has something to do with another country or language.
Is that the ONLY think you are "cultured" in?
I can insult MTF3 in Yiddish. Does that make me cultured?
I'm still amazed that he hasn't been banned for spamming the boards.

Of course not! Speaking yiddish does not make you cultured. You simply must go to Africa, Sweden, Germany, Florida, and Argentina first!

Great... Thank you for all that incredibly usefull information.
sondheimgeek, you forgot to remind me that in order to travel to any other country I had to pass a test about whatever country it was I was visiting.
Oh certainly! But because all americans are overweight and obnoxious we should not even be allowed in other countries without studying for years on end!
In fact, I think all vacations should come to an end! That way other countries don't have to worry about us noisy, loud-mouthed Americans! Sure the travel industry will go bankrupt, but so long as us filthy Americans can't but a baguette in France then it's ok!
Is it bad that I do not care at all about foreign language productions of shows in other countries? Really, why should I? There's a West End board, maybe there should be a board for this stuff, too.

I don't see this doing well in other countries. I mean, hell, Dracula is still running somewhere in the world.

I wonder if the next report will tell which sxhows are playing in the 7 levels of Hades and who is staring in them.

Um, where is Scheveningen?

The Netherlands...
MT3 has posted a theatre related story on a theatre board, hes done nothing wrong this time
It's a great modern theatre at Scheveningen. Lots of public space, no scrum to get to the bar, plenty of leg room in your seats, good sightlines.
songanddanceman2, while your right that MTF3 has done nothing wrong by posting a theatre related story on a theatre message board. But, he always posts about international productions to the point where people don't really care anymore and find it annoying.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.....
Ventilator means fan as in the apparatus with the rotating blades that creates a current of air for cooling ventilation. That was a horribly-written sentence, but I still understood what you were trying to say, and it was not nice.

Well, it's not really wrong because the Göteborg production is not an official production (different staging and choreography, different sets and costumes....) and I suppose that the next others production except Sydney and Scheveningen production will be not a carbon copy of the original production :)

Four years of German and it finally paid off!
Pepsi almost came out my nose!
Oké, so I'm the first one who's actually giving a serious response to this thread, but I guess that I'm allowed, because I actually live in The Netherlands
I'm not happy at all that Mary Poppins is coming to Scheveningen. I was really hoping on Wicked. But whatever, I'm probably going to see it once to see if it's any good.
Ps: This is totally off-topic, but can I just say that I think you guys are all hilarious, seriousely. I was laughing out loud while reading all the comments on this thread.
Pps: I hope you guys can understand me. I know me English isn't that good
