Posted: 7/22/13 at 9:49pmHas there been any announcement on which kids are leaving the cast? I know Analise Scarpaci (A Christmas Story) recently started rehearsals as a new cast member. Does anyone have any more info on this?

I saw John when he was the understudy for the Escpalogist. He was great! Maybe I'll see him when it hits my city next year :)
There have been rumors that Bertie and Lauren are leaving in Sept., so that's all I know.

Posted: 7/23/13 at 10:14amI'm guessing that they probably have a string of kids that they are rehearsing with no clear date of when they'll start, due to the fact that you never know for sure when a child (especially the boys) will hit a growth spurt and need to be replaced within the span of a month or two.

Posted: 7/23/13 at 10:18amI doubt that. No kid grows so fast that they wouldn't be able to get a replacement in time. Rehearsals usually only happen for a few weeks at most for an established show.

Posted: 7/23/13 at 10:24amSlightly different, as the boys were a touch older than most of the kids in Matilda, but that's precisely what they did with Billy Elliott and the "Billy camps." They had a handful of boys at any time who were being groomed for the role with no clear idea of if, or when, they would eventually be put into the show.

Well Billy Elliot was a whole different situation, because the dancing required a very long grooming process, and it was difficult to find boys who fit the role. Matilda's kids have a big job, but it definitely wouldn't take that long to rehearse them.
On an interesting side note, I saw Alex Ko in the role of Billy in March of 2011, and his voice was already changing. He was a fantastic dancer and actor, but his changing voice seemed to be the cause of a lot of trouble with his singing.

This says she's playing Hortensia, so I guess Emma Howard or one of the child swing girls is leaving/has left.

Posted: 9/4/13 at 1:02amAnalise Scarpaci and Marcus D'Angelo have both joined the show as swings. Now there are two swings for the boys and three for the girls. Anyone know if any of the other kids are leaving? Emma Howard is getting pretty tall.
