...was in the New York Times today. He married Jenny Powers.
Matt Cavenaugh/Jenny Powers
We already knew this. I believe it was posted.
wow, how many saleswomen at Lower Deck get their names in the New York Times!
Congrats to the Happy beautiful couple.
Does anyone know if he is taking a break for a honeymoon? If so, has it been announced how long he will be out of West Side Story?
Just my luck. I'm finally going to see it on September 2 and was looking forward to seeing Matt.
Pushdabutton, I haven't seen West Side Story, but I have heard mixed things about Matt on this board. So maybe seeing his understudy won't be such a bad thing.
If Karen is out, I will really be mad. I saw her twice in In The Heights and loved her.

I'd say you're lucky to not see Matt, but I hope you get to see Karen.
Who needs three weeks off to get married?
He's apparently immediately going on his honeymoon.
I guess Arthur lets some people off more time than others.
Bon Voyage!
Well, the wedding was in Boston and might've had some preparations that he needed to tend to that week, plus the honeymoon. It's none of our businesses why he decides to take that much time off for the wedding.
Millie, I realize that the upcoming wedding has been discussed, but I did a search and didn't see that anyone else had posted a link to the actual wedding announcement in the paper. That's why I posted it, I thought some people might be interested in seeing it.
If it's none of our business, than why was there an article in THE NEW YORK POST about people slacking off and missing performances of WEST SIDE STORY just three days ago?
The timing is so ironic.
I, personally, see no problem with someone posting their wedding announcement. That's what it's there for - to announce their nuptials. And I think the timing of the articles, while ironic, is pure coincidence. This wedding has been planned for quite some time. Since before the show opened if I'm not mistaken. So they knew Matt would be taking this time. And, from what I understand, while Matt has missed shows he's the least of their worries compared to other performers.
A lot goes into a wedding - especially one out of town. While Jenny is from Massachusetts she no longer lives there and planning a wedding in a city you're not in everyday can be a bear of a task. He, probably, took off last week so they could go to Boston to oversee the final wedding preparations and have a rehearsal at the venue with a dinner afterwards. Also, often, there are "events" leading up to the wedding like cocktail parties, barbeques, etc. So all of last week would have been taken up by that sort of stuff.
The wedding was yesterday and now there's the honeymoon. I have no idea where they're going but I'm going to guess it's somewhere that it may take time to travel to. That'll eat up days at the beginning and the end of the trip. So, two weeks isn't a whole lot of time if you come to think of it. Especially if they want to have a day or two to unwind at home after traveling before jumping right back into the thick of things.
The show will be wonderful regardless of any absense, don't worry! I had no idea he was getting married, great for him, he is such a wonderful, handsome and talented guy! I wish him the best for him and for the lucky girl!

If it's still the other Matt, it will be.
I used to read a blog that mocked the NYTimes wedding announcements. I wish I could find it again, it was awesome.

Was it the Altarcations section on gawker.com? They used to do a thing every week where they added up the 'points' that each couple's announcement was worth (Both over 35: -2, the bride went to Penn: +3, the groom went to Harvard: +5, etc. type stuff) and then crown which couple in that Sunday's section had the most points, as obvs that meant they were the best. I loved it. But it doesn't appear that they've really done them since 2007 or so.

"The timing is so ironic."
a) that's not what ironic means. b) as you know, the article had nothing to do with pre-approved time off. It had to do with actors calling out frequently.
but glad to see you wishing them well (in your own way), nonetheless. He is genuinely a great guy.
I saw WSS the other day and thought Matt H did a great job. During some scenes I felt he could have displayed more emotion but a great singer and I did enjoy him. I prefer him over Matt C
I agree, Eris. I think it was purely coincidental as well. It's not our business as to what he needs to do in terms of wedding preparations and honeymoon planning. He got married, so what do you expect?
Stop reading into everything so much.
No, it was this:

It hasn't been updated for awhile, but it's so worth it when there are such gems as a groom named Whipple Spaulding Newell III.
Really? The bitchfest is out in full force because someone got married.
Talk about sinking to the lowest level you possibly can.
Bitter - party of you.
How obnoxious can you be. How about wishing the newlyweds well and that they start their marriage off celebrating each other and the beginning of their lives together - and leave it at that.
Work - whatever their occupation - shouldn't be of consideration at the time.
UNBELIEVABLE!
I know its a shame hes getting Married now, He coulnt just wait till september when people stop seeing shows right?
I'm extremly kidding...
Who cares how long hes gonna take off.. Its his Wedding/Honeymoon its unfair that people are holding his time off against him. Let him relax and enjoy this great time of his life.
