I think Matthew Morrison would would JUST FINE as Tarzan. He's got the looks, the bod, the voice, and the sensitivity to pull it off. And by "pull it off," I'm talking about the loincloth, of course.

Anyone seen a Tarzan at one of the theme parks recently? Yowza!

Morrison wouldn't have to "bulk up" to play the part, as someone else stated earlier in this thread. The casting notice specifically addressed the fact that they did not want someone overtly muscular- they want someone with a swimmer's build.

At Chatterbox when Seth asked Matt to confirm if he was going to be Tarzan all he was able to say was "maybe." He also said that they have combined the Tarzan and Narrator parts so now the story is told and sung by Tarzan. (Adam had been the narrator at the latest reading.)Disney has approached the Cirque Du Soleil and De La Guarda people about the swinging/flying. And most of that will take place above the audience.

Obviously, everything is still under wraps or at least they are trying to confirm or deny anything... but I really hope it's Morrison that plays the older Tarzan!

1. I would LOOOVE to hear Matt singing some of those songs (I heart the tarzan music)
2. I think his look is fine, I think if anything he'll prolly hyave a huge challenge, as would anyone who's not a gymnast by nature, if they ask him to do his own stunt type things in terms of flying and climbing and things like that - anyone would have to go build their upper body strength for something like that.

Tryin' not to get my hopes up about him playing this role (especially since interviews with him seem to show his persistence to get to hollywood rather than focus on theatre at hte moment/after piazza) but a gal can wish, can't she? :)
