Matt Morrison performed at the workshop, but on Playbill.com a while ago, there were job listings for this show.

Sounds like Matt Morrison isn't quite the physique they want - he can probably sing it very well, but I think they want someone BIG.

Probably, the type that they're looking for (from Disney's Animal Kingdom's "Tarzan Rocks!" show).

Actually,

The casting notice specifically states they did not want muscle guys, they wanted slim, fit, swimmer's builds. Hah...maybe there is hope for me. But I am not sure I could pull off dreadlocks.

rumor has it that matt morrison is still attached to play tarzan. i believe the casting notices were primarily to cast understudies.

just what i've heard from the higher ups.

Actually, I think Matt would look fine as Tarzan - he looked pretty built in Piazza. Could happily see him swinging around barefoot and in just a loincloth.
The truly beautiful should be lawfully restricted from wearing clothing; and the truly butt-ugly should be lawfully mandated from going naked.

Matt talked about Tarzan at Chatterbox yesterday. He was vague about it but he said he was asked to do some hanging type stuff.

If Michael Keaton can pull off a credible Batman (remember the skepticism?), there's no reason why Matt can't do this. He's got plenty of time to bulk up. Maybe the stagehands should fill Clara's hat with weights.

As Mistress said, he was very vague about Tarzan at Chatterbox. Seth was trying to get an answer from him, but the only thing he would say about casting is that it would not be Adam Pascal.

I thought Matt looks Tarzan ready now. They don't want a big muscle guy and Matt looks great in Piazza - filling out that t-shirt very nicely.

so sad that this is the most important issue we have to discuss. i find it deplorable that we or anyone else should focus on such shallow things. for me, not that anyone cares, theatre is not about someones bare "chest" or anything else bare.
i am embarrassed by this post.

I agree Avigdor but you must admit that whomever plays Tarzan must indeed look the part physically as well.
