Matt and Marissa together again in Hairspray

It's times like these that I am glad I work bi-coastal! I finally got around to looking at all the benefit photos and read that Matt Morrison is going to be Link again in LA at the same time Marissa is going to play Tracy.

I wonder if they could snag Corey, Kerry and Laura now too for a brief run

Great! I saw the two of them in Hairspray in NY and will be seeing the show in LA on July 30 (followed by A Little Night Music on July 31). Looking forward to both of these shows! Sometimes there is something good about living on the west coast!

Mistress, you have the dates correct. We start rehearsals with them in San Diego July 6 for one week. They start performances the 2nd week in San Diego and open LA on July 20. It runs in LA through September 5th.

Aahhh! I'm going to cry! I saw Mr. Morrison right before he left Broadway, and it was love at first sight. I have tickets for the LA production, and my heart is already melting! This is such great news! Is it absolutly 100% definite?

West Coasters are really lucky to see this great talented couple again ! Though, I thought I heard that Matt was really tired of Hairspray when he left and was really adamant against returning to it so soon. It's a good thing he changed his mind. Now, after Hairspray in LA, I hope someone brings that boy in a starring role back to Broadway !!! He is fantastic !

well when Matt left the show his plan was to 'take a year off' I was surprised when he was auditioning & did a pilot, let alone jump back into Hairspray, not that im complaining.

I'm sorry but I just don't see what all the fuss is about. I don't think I would want to see the show if somebody handed me a free front row seat...just my opinion

Well, Kerry's a possibility since she's leaving LSOH anyway, I don't know what Corey's doing (besides the fact he's out in LA) but Laura probably wouldn't be avaliable, considering she's taking over for KC now in Wicked.


You guys who are going are so lucky. Take lots of pictures for me ! And maybe Matt was enticed by the idea of working with Marissa again. Guys are all the same...they're supposed to be resting and they just have to get up and work. :)

well I wouldnt want to upset you! Im deciding between the second or third weeks of August. Im having a helluva time trying to figure out how much wheelchair seating costs there though, if I call the theatre I get a recording and if i call ticketbastard theyre useless. i guess i should just buy em and worry about it when I get my bill.

Ooo... I'm seeing HAIRSPRAY in San Diego! So, they start the second week is that correct? July 11-18? I'll want to be sure to get the right dates before I get the tickets. But, if I get to meet you, Jim, than any date will do! How cool would that be! I've never been backstage at the Civic. I've seen so many shows there, one would think I could get in, but alas, they're very strict... I'm still in trouble for trying to get in for Eartha Kitt's autograph...

Don't worry Jim! I have ever intention of saying hi to you when I am able to see the tour. Should I still be stuck here in ratville TX this fall, I WILL see the tour (most likely in San Antonio at the GORGEOUS majestic Theatre.. you will be amazed at the architecture there!)

Saw Marissa in Times Square today and also spotted Richard Kind in the street. Is Marissa coming back to NYC where she belongs?

ok... so there were TONS of marissa type threads when i used the search function... but you should all be proud that i did use the function... woo hoo....

anyways... i saw Marissa in Hairspray here in Los Angeles and thought she was wonderful... i could see why she won the Tony Award... IMO, she can sing and dance and act and has a lot of spunk and energy on that stage... but in some posts, people i guess either hate her, don't like her, didn't think she deserved a Tony and blah blah blah.. you know... what didn't you all like about her? i thought she has a nice singing voice (i've heard better but she's not horrible like some people make it out to be)... i think she's a great performer... i actually saw Keala Settle in the role, and she was decent... but i think the whole cast was sick as was her (it sounded like she had a sore throat) because they all sounded not that great that night i saw it in Orange County... like they all took Nyquil just minutes before the show... eh... thoughts on Marissa anyone?
