Wow...this is amazing! The stamina he must have. Best of luck with "The Visit". (from Playbill.com)

Matthew Deming

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

It isn't that unheard of - to rehearse one show where performing another. And he only did it for two weeks. There are gads of people that work two jobs year round and at jobs a lot more demanding than performing/rehearsal.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I'm only talking about one individual. I'm focusing on this one person being involved with two demanding roles at the same time. Gee 611, can you figure out that some people (such as myself and others) might that amazing without having to be so indifferent about it? I guess that would be asking too much.

Yes, Matthew Deming was filling in for Ryan for those days he was off to Hawaii. It's the second time he has subbed for Ryan in two years.

No, I can't. Im trying to put your hyperbole into perspective. It's not "amazing".

It was for 2 weeks only.
Other people do it. A LOT.

FANatic, your amazement is a bit unfounded. It is extremely common for theatre artists to be working two or more shows at the same time. Most actors that aren't Broadway stars are working at least two shows at a time. They rehearse on during the day and perform another at night. That's how you keep consistent work. Now people like Sutton Foster and Kelli O'Hara can probably afford to only do one at a time. Look at Brian d'Arcy James. He was doing Hamilton while rehearsing for Something Rotten.

I think the article you linked wanted to point out the Kander and Ebb connection more.

Every time I read that billing, I imagine Rob Lowe as Mary Sunshine.

But it's happening in CHICAGO so FANatic is required to tell the world about it!

His is the only one (double duty) that I am aware of, hence this posting. Certainly, others know of other artists with similar experiences. Obviously I like Chicago and am curious about The Visit. It shouldn't be a surprise if a posting of mine mentions Chicago. There's a chance I'll be commenting on it. (Duh) If snark was a perfume, then some of your responses smell like the scents floor at Macy's. I'll continue on as usual.
