I was shocked to see that the previews for Mean Girls are selling SO well. For most of the performances I looked at, there were no tickets except those being re-sold, and even those had very limited availability. Is this show really selling that well? I can't believe Frozen tickets are easier and cheaper to get at this point!

What do people think the reason for this is? Is Mean Girls poised to really compete with the Disney juggernaut?

I'm 26, and for me the movie is iconic. I think they're in a good position where the ticket buyers are slightly older now and can afford tickets on their own. The movie is also still popular, and many younger kids I'm sure convinced their parents to get tickets for them. I'm not shocked at all by it's popularity.

Also, the St. James has 500 more seats than the August Wilson. MEAN GIRLS picked a smart house.

Saved up to buy a full price ticket for this one and looked at Ticketmaster last night and today... the first week is almost entirely sold out except for premium. Bummed out, but guess lottery will become my friend... do we think this show'll have a cancellation line/SRO?

This is definitely true in my case. I'm bringing my older kids to NYC this summer for a week of shows.

My 12 year old daughter's first and second choices:  1)Harry Potter and 2)Mean Girls.  Mean Girls is the talk of her middle school, and we are not in the northeast.

Just because Mean Girls & GHD are/were both at the AW doesn't mean they need to share the same policies...

But it does mean it is in a theater that can physically accommodate SRO, unlike some.
