Megan Mullally

Posted: 7/17/08 at 2:25pmHi there, I have a question regarding Megan Mullally and Young Frankenstein. I know that people on here say she's barely in the show, but roughly how long would that be? Does she only have that one song she performed at the Tony's (Deep Love)? Or does she have a slightly larger role? I have two open spots for shows and have no idea what to see.

She performs within the first 20-30 minutes of Act I...Please Don't Touch Me is her only song, then she leaves. She doesn't come back till a bit into Act II, during which she is onstage a bit more, and sings Surprise. Megan is onstage for a bit, then we don't see her, then she does Deep Love and we see her at the end again. She has probably about 20-25 minutes of stage time, give or take a few minutes.

She's barely in the first act, but has a much bigger part in the second- and sings a lot more.
But really, there are other shows you could see and after you can go back home and watch Will & Grace.

LoL that is kind of true about Will and Grace. And thank you for the very detailed run-down of when she appears. I'm going to be in New York from the 25th til the 1st and though I don't have another show I'm choosing between, I'm open for anything. So far I am seeing
SAT: A Chorus Line Matinee
MON: Spring Awakening OS
TUE: Xanadu
WED: Xanadu Matinee OS
So really (sorry, I just realized this) I have like two shows Sunday, 1 Saturday, and Wed Night free. I was planning on trying to student rush (or lotto if they don't have it) [TOS] and Avenue Q, but since I'm staying for such a short amount of time, I'm not sure if this is a smart idea.
As usual, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

[TOS] has lotto.
This is probably something I should know lol, but what is OS?

Wow I should have known that...
Thanks!

Posted: 7/17/08 at 3:14pmI have read that you buy your ticket 90 minutes before the show for lotto, and they pull seats an hour before. So if I were to lose, do you think I'd have enough time to go and purchase a ticket for another show? I just don't want to waste a day if I don't get a ticket. Thanks!

Posted: 7/17/08 at 3:17pmYou would have plenty of time to check out the box offices.

Posted: 7/17/08 at 3:46pmAlso, you don't pay to enter the lottery. You only pay if your name is drawn ~ then you pay for your ticket(s).
LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!

jordangirl, thank you for that! I've been reading that lotto tickets are 20-something and actually wanted to ask if you get a refund if you DON'T get drawn, but thought it too obvious. So I'm so glad to know you don't even pay unless you get a ticket. Thank You!!

Posted: 7/17/08 at 5:51pmMullaly is still great for the little amount of time she's on stage. I found the show very good & entertaining, plus Megan's only with the show until Aug 3. Any thoughts on In The Heights, [tos] or August: Osage County??

You could always see the fantastic Patti LuPone in Gypsy!
Mullaly is in YF enough and if you're really a fan and willing to shell out 100 + to see her I say go for it... Her and Andra Martin are by far the best parts of the show! The show isn't awful, it isn't great either. It's enjoyable and if you like the movie you will like the show.

Gypsy, In The Heights, Spring Awakening, and Legally Blonde were the shows I saw when the only other time I went there, in May. I'm already re-seeing SA (but onstage since it just looked so fun last time) and am giving serious thought to seeing La Lupone again. But the rather favorable (or at least not necessarily negative) comments on here make me kind of want to see YF. Hmmm.
And to ACL2006, the score for In The Heights is so good that just listening to some of the songs in my car today made me seriously consider (and I still am considering) whether or not to see it again. And it's the only show on my list of possibles that I can't get any discounts for. So if I'm willing to pay full-price AND I've seen it already, that means something. It's just...such a good show. Even if you see it and can not find one good thing to say about the acting, set, dance, score...EVERYTHING...then at the very least you will leave with a huge grin on your face. So yeah, I would absolutely recommend In The Heights.

Posted: 7/17/08 at 10:40pmBroadwayBox has a good discount code for YF tickets on their site; at least I hope it's still valid. $120 orchestra seats reduced to $80, and other seat sections are even less. I saw the show and didn't think it was worth full-price, but at the price given through BroadwayBox's discount, I think it's worth seeing before Megan Mullally leaves.

If you are a fan--go. Megan and Sutton were two of the main reasons I went to see this show and I was not sorry. It is much better than her talk show.

Posted: 7/17/08 at 10:46pmIt is worth it to go see Megan in the role. Even though she is not in it that much when she is in it she really steals the show.

Posted: 7/18/08 at 12:12amactually, YK is usually on TKTS for 65$. Try that first. Plus you might be able to get standing room for In The Heights which is only $26.25.

Thank you. Now regarding TKTS, I've only been to NY once, so I'm kind of confused about this. I've read you can only get same-day tickets, so I was wondering how long the average wait might be for a Sunday. I would most likely be going to the Times Square one, though I am staying with a friend near the United Nations building (so, whatever is near that).
. And again, thank you.

I am going to see Young Frankenstein this weekend. My mother and I are fans of Megan Mullally, and are wondering whether or not she usually comes out of the stage door. We are attending the Sunday show, and would love to meet her. (sorry that its slightly off topic...)

She usually comes out , I saw it a few Sunday's ago and she came out and signed. If you want a picture stand at the end of the barrier , if you're near the front she tens to say no! Also as you're a fan mention something else that she's done rather than just YF. I've stage doored YF times (it was hard to ger Christopher an Sutton) and she could be stand-offish but when people said I loved your talk show or your cd she opened up more, Good Luck!
Mormon- You are nearest to Times Square.I was in line at TKTS for about 45 minutes. Get there early if you can but the line does move quite quickly. The South Street Seaport booth is not as busy but its not easy to find if you're not familiar with the city and its much further away of course.

Posted: 7/18/08 at 10:23amEverytime I see the show Megan always comes out of the stagedoor. She is very nice I got a picture with her. She stays and talks to everyone she does not rush off at all. The whole cast was really nice.
