That's so exciting that Michelle Obama and her daughters got to Sunday's matinee of 'Memphis.' The N.Y. Daily News reports that they got a standing ovation after they arrived. It was also great to see them supporting Broadway, and sticking around for the standing ovation for the cast. Any reports? Here's one from Carolyn on her blog at the 'Memphis' Web site ...

The 'Memphis' CD signing is finally set: Tuesday, April 6, at 4 p.m. at Barnes & Noble at Lincoln Triangle, 1972 Broadway (at 66th St.), in NYC. The cast and creators (David Bryan, Joe Di Pietro and Sergio Trujillo) will celebrate the release of this CD, which has a bonus cut of Bryan doing 'The Music of My Soul.'

Meantime, I hear that Chad Kimball is expected to sing 'Memphis Lives in Me,' Montego Glover will belt 'Colored Women,' and Cass Morgan, Derrick Baskin, J. Bernard Calloway and James Monroe Inglehart will team up for 'Change Don't Come Easy.' Hockadoo!

Hockadoo! What a terrific turnout today for the 'Memphis' CD signing at Barnes & Noble Lincoln Triangle in NYC! The place was packed, and by a show of hands, it seemed like the 'Memphis' fans were out in full force. Composer-lyricist David Bryan and bookwriter-lyricist Joe Di Pietro were delightful hosts as they introduced the songs and singers.

* 'Change Don't Come Easy' - Cass Morgan, J. Bernard Calloway, James Monroe Iglehart and Derrick Baskin
* 'Colored Woman' - Montego Glover
* 'Memphis Lives in Me' - Chad Kimball

David and Joe were like a classic comedy team. David, who produced the album, said his CD concept was not to concentrate on putting dialogue in it, but making songs. Joe joked, 'I was very upset about the no dialogue.'

David said it usually takes his band (Bon Jovi) a year to make an album; here, the 'Memphis' album was done in 3 days.

David also told a cute story about 'Colored Woman.' He said, 'I was in my studio [working on] that song, and my twins were about 10 years old at the time. I was singing the demo version, and then I opened up the studio door, and they said, 'Dad, you're NOT a colored woman!' '

Meantime, this Saturday night will mark 'Memphis' ' 200th show on Broadway. And last week, the show was at 92% capacity. Hooray!

Loved the CD signing today. Montego in particular sounded spectacular.

Also enjoyed the interview at the Greene Space last night, does anyone know if it's available online anywhere?

Wednesday (4/7) was my 3rd time seeing Memphis. I know 3 times is not that many in comparison to those who've seen it 5 or 10 times. I haven't seen it since October and it was SO great to see the show again!! It's amazing how much joy this show gives me from start to end! My 3rd visit has to be the best by far. I had a great seat, weather was good (this was important since I waited at stage door), and got to briefly go on stage after the show. Chad said since October, there were a few small changes to make the show go a lil faster. Has any of you die hard fans noticed it? What were the changes?

Anyone seen the video of Chad's performance at the CD signing the other day by the way? Ouch. That note is always a killer for him nowadays.

I was there for their 200th performance!! The audience was a lil’ dead. But the cast was sizzling hot with tons of energy!!! It was my 4th time seeing the show and I have no idea when I’ll be back in NY to see the show again.

To all you NYorkers Memphis fans – I envy you!! Soak up Memphis as much as you can!!

I saw the matinee today it was phenomenal. I really think it is the most underrated show of the season. Montego could NOT calm the audience down for her BCEFA speech (which was hilarious BTW.). I bought the signed broken record!

'Memphis' has changed its student rush policy. Until a couple of weeks ago, student rush was sold throughout most of the day. If they had seats (say, on the orchestra side, or very close to the stage), they'd sell them to students. But now they sell them as soon as that day's box office opens for the front row of the orchestra. Once those seats are gone, no more student rush. Your best shot would be to get there before the box office opens. I doubt rush tickets will be available much later.

Hey, if you haven't seen it, there was a special proposal over the weekend at a matinee of 'Memphis.' At the curtain call, a guy asked his girlfriend to marry him, by quoting one of Huey Calhoun's lines in the show.

Awwww! Congrats to the happy couple!

Awards season is getting into full swing. Congrats to 'Memphis,' which is up for Best Musical among the Drama League Awards, and to Montego Glover, who got a nomination for her Distinguished Performance. And congrats, too, to Charlie Williams, 'Mr. Memphis,' for winning 'The Broadway Beauty Pageant' for chorus boys, a benefit for the Ali Forney Center. Christine Ebersole and Michael Musto were among the judges. Watch Charlie get interviewed by Will Pulos of Logo. See how great he looks.

I haven't seen this show yet, but I've read some really great stuff on the show. I want to see something with great music and this looks like it would fit the bill. This will be my seventh show as part of my 5-day show week in May. I'm using a discount offer off Broadway Box for the tickets and I'm not sure which seats are considered best for this show. I'm being offered rows D & F, 5 & 7, two seats in from the aisle. Farther back, Row O on the aisle in Orchestra OR Mezzanine seats, fifth row back. Not sure which ones to take, so I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Theatrespaz, I've sat in various locations and always had a good time. The mezzanine is quite fine for getting a full view of the stage, but I like sitting closer, so I'd recommend the D and F seats. You'll feel more a part of the action, especially when the rousing curtain call rolls along. Hope that helps. And say hi to the cast at the stage door; what a friendly bunch. Have a terrific time at 'Memphis' and all your other shows!

Saw it Saturday afternoon.... All I can say is WOW! I knew I would like it I did not expect to love it like I did. There are no excuses here folks. A crowd pleasing big Broadway musical with and excellent book, exceptional score spectacular dancers and choreography and a cast to die for. Technically it is slick and tight with exceptional use of projections. The set and scenes change flawlessly and miraculously at time. The show is incredibly directed and paced to perfection.....I was amazed start to finish the photo used as a show curtain at the end of the show of the two little black boys singing is a wonderful touch to closing a truly remarkable and emotional show. Bravo MEMPHIS... I will be visiting again and again really soon. Attention School drama directors this is the show to book for your students to see. Chad, Montego and the whole cast are outstanding examples on how to perform on a stage, and technically it is brilliant.
