theaterdiva why don't you just acknowledge that there are times when the word retarded can be acceptable and times (like when you used it to insult somebody here) that its not acceptable.
Medical term = good
insult = bad
yayyyyy!

I'm done using it, my point has been made.

I guess George is the only one who thinks it's still right.
It's 2008.
Let's evolve.

Posted: 2/12/08 at 7:54pmOkay, George. I defended your point, but replying to Diva in your very condescending manner was absolutely unnecessary.

Theaterdiva what are you talking about? Didn't you read what the other posters wrote? They said you were wrong, not me.
I know I'm usually the one who is bashed on these threads, but for once, my opinion is in the majority.
We respect your opinion about not wanting to use the word retarded, theaterdiva, but we dont agree with it.

dancingthrulife, I'm always complaining about condescending tones here on BWW.
Go look back in the thread and see how many times I keep saying my same point over and over and over again, and how theaterdiva ignores what I write.
The good/bad thing I wrote was obnoxious---I guess I'm just trying to inject a bit of humor into this thread because we just keep running around in circles. I did not mean to be condescending and I totally take it back if it was construed as such.

You're always complaining about it, so the natural thing is to treat others in the same manner you complain about. Yeah, that makes sense.

theatrediva,
So will calling me "slow developped" instead of "retarded" make it less an insult? :)
If you cannot see the logic behind this, I have to seriously wonder if you are sort of retarded, in an absolute non-insulting but fact-based way.

Well diva's racial slurs must have been deleted because I legitimately do not see them.
EDIT: Okay, I wasn't looking far back enough in the thread. Yes, diva was wrong. You're both wrong. Happy?

What about my argument was wrong?
Tone. Pointless doggedness. Unwillingness to compromise. So on.

Unwilling to compromise? Not sure if I follow that.
I told theaterdiva a few times that I saw his point. But, like others, I feel that using the word retarded in a medical sense is ok, and using as an insult is not ok.
All i'm sayin. not sure how that is "pointless doggedness". But I'll think about it.
And FYI craww, a couple weeks ago we had a looooooooooong debate about this, and today, when this started, the first thing I said was that I didnt want to start this argument again, and theaterdiva said "good because youre wrong" Yet you're coming after me for my tone??? I dont know man.

I'm not specifically coming after you for your tone. You asked me how I thought you were wrong, and I answered.
Frankly, after TheatreDiva has said things that were completely out of line, I just assumed he had to know in what sense he's wrong.

Guys, I'm really getting tired of all the constant arguing and bickering on this thread. Everyone will have a different opinion, PLEASE just agree to disagree instead of fighting about it. It's really getting tiring.
Thanks.
