When you overheard them talking about it, I assume you asked right? What did they say?

I did. They said that she was looking at new plays. They were suggesting that she was looking two seasons from now so I guess that would be like 2019-20. But I was wondering if anyone else had heard anything

I've heard this too. From what I've heard, it's supposed to be Tony Kushner's newest play about his grandmother and her experience in a concentration camp during the Holocaust. Heard that it would be a true "ensemble piece" but just centered on Meryl's character.

I'd love to see her replace Midler in Hello Dolly. Probably no chance of that though

Would've loved her replacing Glen Close in Sunset... but doubt either actress would go for that. Streep because she didn't originate the role. Close because the pitting of two great Hollywood actresses would probably not serve either well.

Why would replacing Glenn Close lead to "pitting" actresses against each other?
Streep has been vocal about the fact that she would only return to Broadway in new play, so it'd make sense if she came back in Kushner's new play, especially given their history working together on projects like the ANGELS IN AMERICA TV adaptation and MOTHER COURAGE on stage.
