In a Variety profile yesterday, Michelle Williams said she was supposed to come back to Broadway in a production of Amy Herzog's Mary Jane before COVID happened. Did anyone know about this being in the works? I would love for it to somehow happen again although she is pregnant which makes it seem unlikely. I wonder how many other shows we'll never know about we lost to COVID.

Oh wow. I'm sure Williams would be great (and is more of a name), but Carrie Coon was mesmerizing in that at NYTW.

This piece of info is a hilarious triple-whammy of unpopular opinions for me:

I was in the minority in that I did NOT like this play, and I actually thought Coon really overacted in the role. And yet, I’m also on the minority in thinking that Michelle Williams is one of the hammiest over-actors currently working on stage and screen. So it seems oddly appropriate that she would be in consideration for this role. But I’m the lone dissenter in thinking that’s not actually a good thing.

Herzog is a faculty member at Yale School of Drama (now David Geffen School) so Yale Rep mounted a production several seasons back.  I heard the NYTW production was a vast improvement; it would have to be since nothing Yale has done in ten years has been inspired.
