Re: OTHER DESERT CITIES reviews (Hudson) - Louis-Dreyfus, Harris, Janney, Keery, and Rabe
Janney does her best work for a camera, and has the hardware to confirm such a notion. Her stage work on the other hand doesn’t carry the same horsepower.

Re: OTHER DESERT CITIES 2026 Previews
Looks pedestrian. I hope I am wrong, really looking forward to this one.
Re: OTHER DESERT CITIES 2026 Previews
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective. Even more appreciated after endless chatter re: ticket prices. In any event, your review confirms my suspicions. Sounds like it lacks any real bite. They’ll still make a fortune, but there reviews may be dicey if they cannot work diligently through their preview period. I hope they get there. I loved the original production, saw it on Broadway twice. Loved Stockard, admired Light.
Re: OTHER DESERT CITIES 2026 Previews
How many performances so far? It is odd that there is minimal chatter considering this cast. I loved the original production and recognize it’s a good play, not a great one, but all I currently hear is crickets. Guessing this production is either pretty mid or just not very memorable.

Well that didn’t take long.

MezzoDiva47 said: "yawncynthia erivo is overrated"Failed Oscar bait. WOM is weak, and this is Erivo’s second stumble since Wicked. Dracula was kind of a mess. She was incredible in JCS at the Hollywood Bowl, though.
Who’s seen preexisting condition?
Saw it two (?) summers ago with Edie Falco, and very enjoyed the experience. I see she is doing a run eventually in this transfer, and recommend seeing it. Not a lighthearted night at the theatre, but powerful without being too on the nose. Marin wrote a wonderful play.
Re: Why was Bernadette Peters considered an ill fit for Gypsy?
Saw Peters about eight or nine months into the run. Thought she was stunning, but that production was a slog.Saw LuPone several times, City Center and Broadway. She along with that production were first class, but she did go a little overboard towards the end of the run. I think she got bored and kept having to entertain herself.Saw Audra just before opening. She was terrific in the comedic moments, and found her end of the first act thrilling, but she cried way too much. Rose’s Turn was not ...
"La Cage" at City Center
No one’s so-called tea is ever as fictional as someone who knows someone in the cast.
The 79th Annual Tony Awards Telecast!
Went to the viewing party last evening at Green Room 42, and had a decently entertaining time. The host played games with the audience during commercial breaks and what have you, but some of the participants struggled with Broadway trivia, which was odd considering the event. They would play a clip from a song and you had to guess the Tony winner. Tell me why no one recognized Len Cariou’s “Epiphany” or George Hearn in La Cage? There was also a younger couple sat at the next table with an old...

Ed Harris, Allison Janney & Julia Louis Dreyfuss - OTHER DESERT CITIES Revival??
AOC requires a lot of cast, and the original staging incorporated a multi-level house. The set could be downsized but that cast is quite large. No way those two names, as talented as they are, will be opening a commercial production of that play. They would need a big name for Violet, at least. I say give it to Metcalf. She can do anything. Not a name, per se, so Barb would need to be star casting. In terms of ODC, I say hell yes. I really enjoyed the original production, and thought that seve...
Official: Jamie Lloyd's EVITA to open on Broadway in Spring 2027
Which performances did RZ have scheduled absences each week? I cannot remember from the London run.
Kristin Chenoweth WE LOVE YOU
The show was a turkey, and her one trick pony schtick was not enough to save the day this time around.
Sally Field play in the Fall
Saw the most recent episode of Hacks and immediately thought “Cherry Jones would be a fantastic Violet Weston.”

Cynthia Erivo's Dracula - Terrifying Pics!
I completely forgot this production was still open after word-of-mouth quickly fizzled out after those reviews.
