Mid SWEET CHARITY Review

I just got off the phone w/ Princeton78 who's at the sold out SWEET CHARITY right now. He told me Christina is doing a FABULOUS job. She got about 2 minutes of entrance applause and he said she actually motioned to the audience to stop the applause after "If They Could See Me Now". She's wearing mid calf white boots probably to help her foot, so it sounds like she's she's doing a great job! :)

Edit - He says they also added back in the original overture. VERY cool.

"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."

could be wearing some kind of brace inside the boot?

re: Mid SWEET CHARITY Review

Very possibly since he says that Charlotte didn't wear boots at all.

"I hope you're all happy, keeping Alan off the team. Couldn't you, for once, open your minds and hearts and hear something that he couldn't see? I, for one, am glad that Alan is blind, so he can't see what, I am so sad to say, you can't hear." -Jerri Blank

re: Mid SWEET CHARITY Review

It tickles me how they changed so much of the original, and are slowly changing it back to the way it was...I love that original overture, I am so happy it is back.

Great news from "the front".

I guess the boots do fit the theme of the show...

Thanks Matt_G for posting it. It was a performance I shall never forget...if only for the electricity in the house that night.

So the show is being altered even now?? When does it open??

re: Mid SWEET CHARITY Review

Of course they are still altering. It is in previews. I heard a rumor ( and this is a second hand rumor from someone I don't know) that they have brought someone in to doctor some of the coreography in one number. Princeton; can you talk a little about the coreography? I have never liked Waynes work. I have always found it just serviceable.

re: Mid SWEET CHARITY Review

The choreography was.... ehh. The only number that really shined in terms of movement was the Rich Man's Frug. The rest, including ...Brass Band, were mediocre. I felt like all of it had much more potential to be creative. I know Mr. Cilento has much more in him!

re: Mid SWEET CHARITY Review

Dame..
Rich Man's Frug was incredible.

It seemed as if the rest of the choreography was the same as it was in Boston a few weeks ago. The ending was definately different however. In Boston, the show closed with a reprise of "Brass Band" and it now closes a bit more quietly with a reprise of "I'm the Bravest Individual." "Brass Band" is servicable but not memorable and it's not Christina's fault. I thought the choreography for "If My Friends Could See Me Now" was just fine...cute with a neat ending involving the lighting. My favorite song in the entire show is "There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This" and the 3 ladies do not dissapoint.

re: Mid SWEET CHARITY Review

i found the choreography to be completely uninspired even in frug. in addition, i had no idea how dated the show is. i mean i knew it was in the 60's , but whoa.
