I think it was awful. She doesn't sing in the right style for that kind of song. As far as I'm concerned she ruined it.

"We are not talking about a professional recording here. It's not like she actually worked with a musical director like any actress would before performing on a show, she's not really performing the song. This was probably just her messing around with the voice memos on her iPhone."
And...? It would still sound atrocious.

She put it out there, so of course people will critique it. It doesn't matter what the circumstances are that it was recorded under. You see this all the time with so many self-filmed Youtube performances, the disclaimer at the beginning "I'm not feeling well/I've been sick/This is the first time I'm singing this" etc etc. I can't understand the logic of putting something out there for everyone to see if you aren't happy with the results. Nobody holds a gun to your head and says "post ever single video and recording you ever make."

Cringeworthy, but not nearly as bad as I was expecting. Much preferred it over Amanda Seyfried. Also...how unrealistic is it that they are looking at her for the revival?
@Starship You're kidding, right? Why in the world out of all the TALENTED singers out there, Miley Cyrus...
"why in the world?" If this is true, it's called ticket sales.

It's also called thinking outside of the box. I'm one of those directors who likes to look outside the box for roles. Now, this doesn't mean I go crazy or think that Lady Gaga would be a good Elphaba, but I do feel it's good to look at different options and I think Miley COULD'VE been a good candidate. However, she's just not there vocally or acting wise.
Wish she would have been in the movie, it might have been slightly interesting.

Hence my comment it's called ticket sales.
I'm not surprised if she was considered for the film. With some training, it could have worked. Still, much happier they went with Samantha Barks.
Is it just me that noticed or did Samantha Barks vibrato get slower in the film and has been stuck like that since? Updated On: 7/31/13 at 11:11 PM
