I don't think the Windows Media Player version is up yet. The only one I could find was the Quicktime version.

It kills me because none of the locations in this film even remotely resembles the East Village then or now -- I laughed out loud looking at the Cat Scratch Club in this clip -- trust me the real s&m bar was NOTHING like that. Mimi has apparently died and gone to Vegas...

But that aside, Dawson looks great.

Oh my. That was hot.

And we get to see Mimi's handcuff dance for a second. Or, at least her LVB version of it on top of the bar.

Michael Bennett, just how many S&M clubs in the East Village are you familiar with?

LOL. That's what I was thinking skittles. How many movie goers are actually going to know what S&M clubs in the East Village were like?!?!

Yeah, I had no idea RENT was supposed to be an accurate, definitve docudrama of life in the East Village. It's a friggin' movie for cryin' out loud.

I've been in a couple re: Mimi - Out Tonight And they were small, dark, and disgusting. They certainly didn't have hundreds of business men from Jersey leaning over tables and railings watching girls dance down neon stairs!

But as I say in another thread, I think its fine if Columbus paints an alterior vision of NYC. It's a musical. It doesn't have to be realistic -- but it does amuse me when they went to the trouble of trying to make the film accurate historically by making it "period" or when they mention how the film will bring the grit back to the piece. I think when people are complaining about the PG 13 rating, this is the sanitation they are speaking of.

Aside from the slight amusement because I saw the "real" thing -- I think for a film the choice is fine.
