Actually, I hate to say it but Seasons of Love is one of the few contemporary Broadway pieces that actually works for a chorus. You can do a fairly "authentic" version rather than a specially made arrangement, which are usually scary.
This version however....eek! Did anyone listen to any of the other examples? Bad pitch, bad intonation, bad pieces for children to sing...the music teacher in me is cringing!
Wow hamsters on helium, someone call NASA or Animal Protection !!!
>>Oh god... I hate when they do that like those kid bop cds where they sing todays music
Me too.
Oh..that's not nearly as bad as my 9 year old's Defying Gravity. Trust me on this one.
OMG I HATE THEM FOR RUINING MY LIFE!
why? just... why?

am I the only one who thinks it's...well, kind of...cute? Maybe it's because I'm not a "Renthead" or even slightly obsessed with the show...
Well, that was certainly only the best thing in my entire life.
I have to agree with Aigoo on this one. Best thing ever.
I mean, they are just kids, and as much as I hate the Kidz Bop CDs, didn't we all sound like this when we were that young, whether off or on key?
omg...i just got back from my dance class...and there is a singing class going on at the same time with little kids [9/10 yrs?] and the teacher played seasons of love and she had them singing to it!! ahhh....my ears!! i almost screamed! sooo baaaadd...i can't believe that just happened right after i read this post a few days ago..uhhh
Ouch. Well, okay I give it to them they were cute...okay wait no...nevermind
My choir director *high school* wants to do Seasons of Love this year and I'm begging him not to. It would hurt my soul to hear
a. people who don't care the least bit about Rent singing it
b. People do an injustice to it
And I asked him about it, and since people hold their music, we wouldn't even be able to clap.
Now you just can't do Seasons of Love without clapping. It's out of the question.

This is....not good. But the Broadway Kids did a version of it that was pretty good. And they had people sing the solos, and sing the heck out of them at that. Actually, Christy Carlson Romano did one of the solos. Of course, I haven't listened to it in a few years, it might not be as great as I remember it. It definitely wasn't this bad though, ugh.
MAKE IT STOP!!!

I love that you brought up the Broadway Kids where's my shoe? !. I used to listen to their cd's for hours when I was younger, and to me then, SOL did sound pretty good!
