A friend who was cast as Joanne in "Company" had never been able to understand what Stritch was singing in "Ladies Who Lunch" after "I'll drink to that"...AND ONE FOR MAHLER! My friend had always thought she was saying...AND ONE FIRM OLIVE!
There was a thread on this before, but I couldn't find it and it was awhile ago.
- In "Belle", at the end, when all the townspeople yell out random phrases ("Mais oui!", etc., etc.), when Gaston yells "Pardon!" it sounds like he yells out "Hot dog!"
- In "Shuffle Off to Buffalo" in the 42nd Street revival CD, when Mary Testa sings "First you serve them with subpoenas" (sp?), it sounds like "First you serve them with some p**is."
- In "One Day More" from Les Mis (I forgot which cast recording) it sounds like Javert sings: "One more day to revolution/We will nip it in the butt/I will join these little schoolboys/They will wet themselves, La!"
- I also noticed that "You really were a b*tch" in the POTO recording.
I bet there are more I have.
The neverson babies site isn't working right now
But I think y'all are thinking of
Excuse Me While I Kiss This Guy
I thought it was "Pour us coffee in America" when it's actually "For a small fee in America" (West Side Story), and from 1776 - "Them soldiers, they fart...oh, Ma, did we run" when it's actually "Them soldiers, they fired."
In Wicked (Defying Gravity) I thought that Elphaba said "as someone told me recently" instead of "as someone told me lately", boy was I wrong.
Wicked
"The Wizard and I":
Degreen F.I.U. (I figured it was some code)
(Degreenify You)
Rent
"Take Me or Leave Me":
I make mistakes in my sleep, baby
(I make lists in my sleep, Baby)
Chess
"How Many Women":
My nights with Gunther and Prunes
(My nights with Goethe and Proust)
Deamgirls
"I am Changing":
All those years of darkness,
a thousand points of light.
(Could make a person blind)
I'll change my life
I'll make it better.
(I'll make a vow)
Miss Saigon
"The Heat is On in Saigon":
Says the Engineer (but with his accent, I thought he was saying Enconeer)
(Since the end is so near)
The intro to Judy Garland's "Palace Medley" at her Palace engagement in 1951:
Actual lyric: "...Vaudeville's back at the Palace, and I'm on the bill!"
What I heard: "...Vaudeville's back at the Palace, and I'm off the pills!"
I thought it was an odd bit of special material...
SO many Daphne Out Tonight ones!! Let's see...

My personal favorite: "You're a sensitive aesthete" from "Santa Fe" I ALWAYS thought was "You're as sensitive as feet."

On the Joseph CD with Donny Osmond, on the song "The Brothers Come to Egypt" there's a section where I thought they were saying "Gobble, Gobble...Gobble, Gobble...". But in reality, they're singing "Grovel, Grovel...Grovel, Grovel..."
Chicago: All That Jazz

in yagmcb, I always thought the line was "could you please send erections to where you are" lol.

I think it's working now.
Oh, the Jimi Hendrix thing reminded me of this - while listening to "Look at the Sky" from Urinetown one day, my former roommate asked me who "this guy" was. I assumed she wanted to know who was singing, but she thought the lyrics to the song were "There's a heart/In this guy/There just is/Don't ask why/ It's this guy." So now that's what I hear.

Sounds just like it's written to me:
Can it be?
Can it be Christine? Bravo!
What a change.
You're really not a bit.
The gawkish girl
That once you were.
I knew it was "bit" from the first time I heard it.
Mine is from Janet Jackson's ESCAPE. She says, "let's go, Minneapolis." For years, I thought it was, "Let's go, learn the alphabet!"

The first time I heard "La Vie Boheme," I said out loud, "Did they just say "To Yoda, to yogurt"?!"
from tick tick boom
the entire first thing that Jon sings.
I still can't understand it even though i know the words
For about a minute of "Over the Moon" I thought that they were saying "King Buffet" in the background instead of "leap of faith." Don't ask.
In Wicked, in the song "Thank Goodness," in the beginning part when everyone's scared of the Wicked Witch, they're like, "Like some terrible green lizard, throughout the land she flies! Defaming our poor Wizard with her *blah blah blah* and lies! She LIIEEESSS!!"
What is *blah blah blah*? is it "fallacies?"
Swinga, its calumies. No I don't know what it means
me101, that's not a word!
Don't blame me! I looked it up
My mistake, its Calumnies, with an N
where did you look it up? it's not on m-w.com. sorry to be so anal about it i just really want to know what they say!
oh, ok, thanks. never mind. :)
Thought it was "And I'll walk up the ailes till I die"...It is "And I'll want nothing else til I die."
