gumbo, the lyrics you're missing are: "now i know you can rent it, a new lease you are my love, on life, be my life..." etc.
and does anyone else find the third verse of "come to your senses" from ttB really hard to understand? I read the lyrics and intellectualy I know them, but I still can't understand what amy spanger says...

Thanks for this thread, guys... probably the most I've laughed all week. I'm guilty as charged for most of these... "hoi palloi," "pal, a sis..." yeah. There's probably more that I can't think of right now.
haha - I thought it was "Stuck on the wall with a PIT in my ass" for the LONGEST time!
The other one, not as funny, but I always misheard the title of the song "In a simple way I love you" as "Innocent poet, I love you."

CatsNYrevival, that is exactly what I thought!!!!
In Avenue Q (If You Were Gay) I didn't know Pal Joey was a musical so I thought there was another character named Joey... yeah I'm an idiot.
When ALADDIN first came out a lot of older kids around me were singing the lines from "A Whole New World" "Unbelievable sights/Indescribable feeling" as "Unbelievable SIZE/Indescribable feeling." Since I was just a kid, the sexual reference went over my head and I didn't realize that they were being humorous. For the longest time, the latter lyrics were the ones I sang whenever I listened to the soundtrack. No one bothered to correct me.
When i first heard Out Tonight (RENT) and Mim sings "of Avenue B" i heard how fast/fat can you be....
and in La Vie Boheme when Roger says "Lenny Bruce" i hear Let it Roost....
Um... excuse the super-duper bump here, but I thought of a couple.
On the Complete Symphonic Recording of Les Mis, during the Confrontation, I always think Javert is saying "My duty's to velour" as opposed to "My duty's to the law". Why would he have a duty to a fabric??
Also, in the Rent OBCR, it sounds like "Take your brown eyes, your pretty smile, your silverware!" in Another Day. I can understand hypodermic needles for heroin, but cutlery?
Hahah my friend used to think the movie RENT lyrics were: "Cold hands.. yours too... bare, like my father's." Haha I made her listen to the OBCR to convince her it was big hands, not bare.
Isolating Edge-
"Silence equals death. ???????? camal lights, Carmine Miranda, Nirvana."
I would guess, from reading your interp that it might be something like -
"Camera lights, Carmina Burana, Nirvana."
Carmina Burana is a classic symphony/choir/opera piece. I'm going to assume that one anyway. I'll have to get ahold of a copy of the recording to say for sure.

Real Lyric:
PERON: Dice are rolling
What I Heard:
PERON: Rice-a-roni
I did a double-take when I heard that song. I looked in the lyric book and realized what an idiot I was.
I RESURRECT YOU, O MOST ANCIENT OF THREADS!
ANyway, I just heard this one, and it was too funny for me to bear, so I thought I'd share it. It's not *exactly* a misheard lyric, but it's possibly not funny enough to start its own thread, so I figured it'd fit well in here.
See, the Japanese have just started an anime of 'Les Miserables' (which was what started the conversation with my friend), and it was also referenced in an older series called 'Sakura Taisen 4'. And Japanese pronunciation of western terms and names can be a bit off. My friend has come across 'Les Mis' in 'Sakura Taisen', but never bothered with the show or the novel, so he's had some issues working out what the character names are actually meant to be. And he just confessed that for the longest time, he thought the protagonist was called Jumble John.
Go on, just try singing a few lines of 'Who Am I?', and substitute that name in. It's BRILLIANT. XD
This is misheard lyrics is from Spring Awakening in The Song of Purple Summer
The lyrics is:
And mares will neigh with
Stallions that they mate
foals they've borne
I heard:
And BEARS will neigh with
Stallions that they mate
foals they've borne

StageManager - sounds like "A Whole Nude World" which has the alternate (and alternative) lyrics: "Unbelievable size/Indescribable squealing"

PaintWord - Carmina Burana is most famous for the booming chorus piece "O Fortuna", which has been used in about a million TV commercials and movies, or at least movie trailers. It seems to be the "go-to" piece of music when you want a big Gothic "devil music" sound.
Haha! This is hysterical!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who heard "nude saurus" TL5Y "If I Didn't Believe in You." I was like "Is that some kinda...dinosaur?" Haha!
I finally learned that it's "tsuris" which means difficulty or trouble in Yiddish.
However, I still prefer the idea of a naked dinosaur keeping Jaimie and Cathy apart. Haha!
I've never been able to tell whether the lyric is
"I'll take the grand, sugar, you take the spinnet"
or
"I'll take the brown sugar, you take the spinich"
from "Could I leave you?" from Follies. They both kind of make sense?
I could look it up, but I'm way too lazy
Sorry to post two almost right in a row, but I was listening to the Assassins revival recording and during "The Gun Song", Booth is singing and then at the end Czolgosz comes in and sings "I hate this gun" but I heard "I hate this guy" and I was thinking "What does Czolgosz have against Booth?" I thought it seemed random.
Not that funny, I know, but I felt like sharing. :)

As much as I am obsessed with WIW, for some reason a lyric has always sounds different to me, despite me knowing what it's really saying.
"All for Laura,
that's how I'll live
till I save you,
till you forgive me!
I dedicate my life,
I swear upon my soul,
I'll find a way to set you free!
All for Laura,
till my dying breath,
long as you'll believe in me"
That final line is really "long as you're in need of me."
Lovely Ladies from Les Mis:
Me: Costs a little extra if you wanna tickle here
Real: Costs a little extra if you wanna take all year.
Hey. both work.
in Oklahoma: (all 'er nothin')
(actual)
"he better look alot like me!"
"your spitting image"
(I heard)
"He better look alot like me!"
"don't spit near me!"
"You know that old TLC song, "Waterfalls"?
I thought they were singing "Don't go, Jason Waterfalls!"
I thought it was a person.
(They're actually singing "Don't go chasin' waterfalls"... which I'm sure everyone else already knew.)
*looks sheepish* "
OH MY GOSH ME TOO!
and for more TLC.. i thought for the longest time.. up until august that is.. that they were saying "i'm a freak, yeahh" instead of the actual words "so i creep, yeah"
i am ridiculous.
in south pacific i thought mary martin sang; [a wonderful guy]
what i heard: i'm hormonal as blueberry pie
actual lyrics: i'm as normal as blueberry pie
haha wow, silly me.
OK I think that I have posted this before, but just in case I did not:
In The Last 5 Years "Nobody Need to Know" I always thought Jamie said "I'll Write the Panic Reciepts"
But it really is "All right the Panic Receeds"
I always thought it was brillient but never knew what it ment. Probably because they were the wrong lyrics! - Didn't figure it out until I did a production of it!
I'm dumb!
