Miss Saigon Question (Spoiler)

I saw the matinee of Miss Saigon on March 22. I have a question about the ending - at the end when Kim kills herself, there was no gun shot sound. Was this just a technical mishap that day or is there never a gun shot sound or is something else happening that I just didn't realize! Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a glitch. There was a gunshot in the London revival.

It was a mishap. I saw it 3 weeks ago, and there's most definitely a gunshot. There were quite a few gasps from audience members who didn't know it was coming.

Thanks to both of you for your help. I really thought I remembered a gun shot sound and was anticipating that moment and then it didn't happen. Guess the technical glitch is to blame...

Wow, that glitch is a big oopsie. On the live recording from this production in London, there's a very loud gunshot sound effect.

Just remembering you've had an "and" When you're back to "or" Makes the "or" mean more than it did before

At the first preview there was a mishap too with Thuy where the gun fired after he was already laying there.

Miss Saigon Question (Spoiler)

It was definitely a mishap. Both gun shots were also faulty in the first preview, as in Eva fired and made the movement of shooting, but the sound effect was delayed.

The sound effect is done directly by the gun that Kim (Eva) holds, it shoots blanks. It makes sense when you need to sync her movement with such an important sound effect.

When the prop on stage doesn't work, there's someone in the wings with a backup prop (or something similar that makes the sound effect) ready to cover the mishap.

I guess when you saw it, both the prop and the back up did not work, which really sucks.
