When are we gonna have a Miss Saigon Revival in Broadway? I totally missed it when it showed in Broadway...I was too young, poor and clueless then :P
On a kinda related note:
Who are your favorite Characters of Miss Saigon?
What is your favorite part of the musical?
Who are your favorite Kims?
As for me....obviously....the original and the one and only Lea Salonga :)

I dunno I wouldn't welcome one for another ten years honestly--and before fans dump on me, I do have a soft spot for the show.
I was lucky enough to see it in London, its last month in 1999--Joanna Ampil (sp?) was the Kim and she was flawless. I was really thrilled I managed to see it finally before it closed (and it was amazing to see in that huge theatre).
I like so much about the Hytner/Avian/Napier production that I think we need to take some time before coming up with a new production anyway. And it's still touring everywhere it seems and coming up in regional productions--I don't feel it's really missed yet.
(Are there any plans for a movie of this? I believe there were at one point--then again I just found a souvenir program I had for Les Mis from 1992 that says "1993 Cameron MAcKintosh starts filming the movie of Les Miz" with a pic of Cosette holding movie tickets....)

I thought I have also heard that MS movie before and I even read about the movie soundtrack that was supposed to be really low-budgeted and not much of a caliber compared to the original cast recording...
so if we go by 10 years...it would have been
Apr 11, 2001 since it opened in BW on Apr 11, 1991 according to ibdb.
Add another 10 years and I will definitely wouldn't mind a revival in...
Apr 11, 2011 for the 20th anniversary in Braodway!

I'd love to see this revived
It's hard not to like Kim. No one comapres to Lea. Ellen is actually my favorite character.
THE HEAT IS ON IN SAIGON, LAST NIGHT OF THE WORLD and the flashback of the fall of Saigon scene.

I was lucky enough to see the original Broadway Cast. LOVED THEM ALL.
What is Willy Falk (Chris) up to now? He had (has, I hope!) one of the best voices I have ever heard...and pretty damn cute. Would love to see him back on the boards

I saw the show when it opened at Drury Lane in London and i saw it again in the same venue about 4 years later, and it still hadnt lost any of its charm.
In regards to a revival i think its far too soon.
Yes i know Les Mis is back on Broadway, but did it really need to come back so soon.

When are we gonna have a Miss Saigon Revival in Broadway?
When people actually care.

I'd love to see this, but not for like 20 years. I'd sooner like to see a revival of The Light in the Piazza or more importantly Pippin! They could redo it possibly in the style of Chicago if neccessary, they just need to bring it back!
My favorite characters are Kim and Gigi.
My favorite part of Miss Saigon is in the one scene where the soldiers go into Kim's house to confront her right before This Is the Hour. I was recently in a production of Miss Saigon and played one of those soldiers. For those unfamiliar with this part, there are six lines split among six soldiers and the lines were sung/semi-shouted such phrases as "re-education will cure the disease!" and we weren't very active when singing these lines because we were portraying soldiers. Well, this one soldier, on opening night, sang his line "she must be shown what we do to a leach" and waved his arms dramatically for effect, milking it for all it was worth because he hadn't been paying attention to the fact that we were to remain standing still/soldier-like, and sang it with so much expression that we all thought he must have been thinking he was in some other chipper show. Needless to say, we all still make fun of him for it whenever we see him around.
My favorite Kim is Lea Salonga without a doubt!

this is one of my all time favorites pieces of theatre. I loved the original production as well as the first regional production that TUTS did in the round.
I hope that when a revival does happen, it's a new production.

Hello Guys,
I thought I was the only one feeling the same way.
I saw Miss Saigon in Manila. Saw both Kims, Lea and Cezerah and both of them, of course, are amazing. If anyone is wondering how Cezerah did her Kim, it was so close to Lea's even her voice.
I saw a clip of Patrick Wilson singing, "Why God Why?" Of course, I liked his version so much. If they cant bring Miss Saigon back to Broadway, at least make a new recording, a concert recording perhaps? with Lea as Kim and Patrick as Chris.
The Australian production I heard is good. So I do hope they bring it back here.
GOD BLESS EVERYONE

I wonder that every day! I miss this show so much!
My favorite character is Ellen (partly because I'd like to play her, but her charcter is so deep.)
My favorite scenes are the flashback and I still believe, and of course the finale.
My favorite Kim is Lea Salonga, based only on voice, since I never saw her live. Out of the two I did see, my favorite is DeeDee Lyn Magno.

I love Pippin but I think if it was stripped further it wouldn't hold up--it doesn't have a strong enough central conceit, theme or plot like Chciago does with its "murder is art" thing.

Are there any plans for a movie of this?
Back in 1994, Steven Spielberg said he was very interested in directing the film version. Haven't heard him say ANYTHING about it since.

Stephen should re-consider it, now.
Or Julie Taymor, or Rob Marshall. Other than those people, stay away from it.
