I personally prefer Miss Saigon...please don't murder me.
Some people would like to murder you for liking either one
Seriously, I saw the original Miss Saigon & various productions of Les Miz. All I will say is I enjoyed Saigon & my wife & I enjoyed various productions of Les Miz.

My wife will agree with you as she is a Francophile . Enjoyed the latest production minus the turntable.

GOD I am sick of this meme and all the other similar memes perpetrated by this poster. Nobody wants to murder anybody. Nobody wants to decree anything.

Frankly, I preferred Miss Saigon.
I admire Les Miserables but definitely don't love it. I never had that intense passion for it that many people have.

I love both!!! Seen Les Miz 16x including current Broadway production. Seen Miss Saigon 3x including current London revival (could have been more if I get the chance)
I love them both as well. I slightly prefer the new designs for Les Miz but I think the original design of Miss Saigon was beyond brilliant and the revival is lacking in that regard in spite of the updated technology available. I'm also not a fan of "Maybe" but the show is still one of my favorites.

Who? WTF are you talking about?
Les Miserables is the show that started my musical theatre obsession and remains my favorite show for a variety of reasons. I love Miss Saigon as well and the new London production is excellent.
I find LES MIS more consistent: the least interesting filler of LES MIS still holds my interest more than the filler of MISS SAIGON.

Personally I much prefer Miss Saigon -I am emotionally invested every time I see it. Les Miz - I enjoy but often without the emotional component after seeing it over again these years.
That does not mean i love one and hate the other...and if someone else has a different preference, it doesn't bother me at all.
I have to say that I see what Roxy meant when he said, "Some people would like to murder you for liking either one." Let's not pretend that there aren't some people on this board (not anyone on this thread specifically) or even in the Broadway community who look down on anyone who likes mega musicals such as Les Mis, Miss Saigon, Phantom, etc.
As for which one of these I prefer, Les Mis all the way. :)
^^ Let's also not pretend that people's opinions about musical theatre imply that death is the solution to disagreements of personal preferences. Good grief.
Present productions, neither. Pale imitations, of the originals.

I saw the original Broadway productions of both shows. Les Mis was thrilling, but the subsequent productions of that show I've seen have been boring, although I haven't seen the current revival. While Pryce and Salonga were terrific, as a musical, I thought Miss Saigon was just OK.
I love both but I like Miss Saigon's score a little more.
I think Miss Saigon has a better story, but Les Mis's score is infinitely better.
