Molly Shannon deserves a solo show on Broadway

After seeing her tear up Saturday Night Live this weekend I can only wish a solo show would be developed for her. The woman is hysterically brilliant. I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT!

I disagree. I love her in small doses, but her characters all seem very similar. Even when she guested on Will & Grace, she still seemed like she was in an SNL skit.

Now that I think about it you might be right. A little bit goes a long way.

I LOVE HER!!!!!!! I think she'd be fantastic in a solo show or maybe a play or musical.... I could see her doing Hairspray in the Jackie Hoffman track.

Good or not good, it wouldn't sell to this crowd.

right i agree. i think she'd be fun in a show but not in a solo show. maybe as a quirky character in a fun ensemble. i fear a solo show with her would be like 2 hours of Krisitn Chenoweth alone. eesh!

While I do love her comedically, I understand the comments about 'better in small doses.' I think you all need to see "Year of the Dog" where she acquits herself beautifully in a relatively dramatic role (though the film's a dark comedy). She's alternately pathetic, scary and heartbreaking and really shows some acting chops.

A bit off-topic, but I've met her twice-- once at a 'Wet Hot American Summer' event, and once she was waiting in line behind me at Loews Lincoln Square-- and she seemed to be the most genuinely nice famous person I've ever encountered. Each time she chit-chatted with me for about 10 minutes, when she easily could've done the "Thank you very much"-and-walk-away thing.

Satuday night made me miss her so much on the show.

I just saw "The Year of the Dog" and thought she was fantastic! I would definetly love to see her do a show on the New York stage.

I think she could do one Off-Broadway, but not on Broadway. She wouldn't be able to sell tickets by herself on Broadway. She would have a happier and longer run in a theatre like, the 47th Street Theatre.

Or she could always do a show at Ars Nova.

I've always considered myself fortunate to have been a friend of Molly's from back when she was the hostess at The Cravings Restaurant on The Sunset Plaza Strip and I was a struggling wannabe producer.

I can guarantee you what you see with her is exactly what you get: she is a wonderfully sincere and warm person who actually spends more time listening to people than talking. And in an actor, that can be a rare quality!

And she is, in my opinion, very very talented. I think we haven't even begun to see what she is capable of....
