Good point, Scooter. It's tempting to confuse egotism with passion. A blend of the two often has the best results. Believing in yourself is an excellent catalyst for accomplishing greatness.
I could validate some of my remarks with some anecdotes from experiences some friends of mine have had working with him (on Moulin Rouge) but then this whole thread would go on and on. Back and forth. I personally don't think much of him.

Again, you are adopting others opinions as your own. Oh well, end of this thread.
I think Baz Lurman is a creative genious and I hope I get to work with him someday.
No Scooter I have stated my opinions of Baz Luhman previously. The anecdotes were in regard to egotism to give give you some idea of the man's persona. OK?
Anyway who are you? His publicist? You seem to have some sort of vested interest here.

First alterego, and I don't mean to start a battle, but I don't believe that you knew anyone involved with Moulin Rouge. Just a hunch. This makes me then believe that your stance based on these "friends" experiences is weak. You don't have to like the guy, but to say the things you did I would hope you have real reasons.
Second, who are you to be railing on him so hard, Oliver Stone? The only vested interest I have is knowing firsthand (something you lack) the passionate and absolute unegotistical manner in which Baz works and lives. This in contrast to people who have absolutely NO idea as to what they speak of.

To quote Abraham Lincoln: 'Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.
(Thanks Scooter, for the Oliver Stone comment. Made me laugh in an otherwise crappy day!)
OK Scooter, wrong again. I know several people who worked on (actors/dancers) Moulin Rouge and two who worked on the Broadway La Boheme and one who was in the original Luhman staging for the (then) Australian Opera on which the Broadway version was based. That enough for you? So I guess your hunch was wrong. I accept your apology.

alter, it's amazing how your contacts jumped from knowing a couple of people in MR to all those others. And not to be petty, but you have consistently incorrectly spelled Luhrmann's name throughout your posts. If you are going to dislike the guy so much to continually deride him, at least know his name.
As far as your contacts w/Boheme company members, I would absolutely challenge the validity of their "statements"

sorry newyork, i just get sick of people speaking without firsthand knowledge of what they speak so vehemently of. freedom of opinion is more than welcome in any discussion, but responsibilty inherent in that freedom is often severely lacking.
Newyorkuniq, sorry that this whole argument has soiled your thread. It wasn't my intention, all I did was state my opinion. It was another who went on the attack.
Scooter I just noticed that you always refer to Baz Luhrmann as "Baz". So I guess you are close? You questioned my contacts ( which I brought forward to clarify the situation), but you have never ascertained as to just what your connections are, or your so called first hand knowledge. So what (who) are they? Do you have some sort of vested interest in the man or these properties? It certainly reads that way.
