INTO THE WOODS and THE LAST 5 YEARS are confirmed for next year, but wasn't there also a third?
(I know there's plenty that are in the final stages of development, such as JERSEY BOYS and ANNIE, but I thought there was another one that was definitely on its way to being released next year.)

Based on BoxOfficeMojo's release schedule page, the only one with an official release date is ANNIE ( December 25, 2014), as of now --

Considering Les Mis was released last year (though made a good chunk of its $$ in 2013), does that that '13 will be movie musical free?
Last year also had the Rock of Ages bomb. '11 just had The Muppets. Nothing in '10 (of note -- I don't count Burlesque as a real musical), '09 had another bomb Nine. '08 was Mamma Mia and HSM3. '04-07 had a few each, many financial letdowns, though Hairspray was a hit and Sweeney Todd did fairly well worldwide. Hopefully '14 has several more than we already suspect and that at least one's a hit to keep the funding flowing. Money isn't everything, but it does get movies made.

Some would call PITCH PERFECT a musical. Plus the STEP UP series.
And thanks for counting THE MUPPETS as the one musical of '11. (My work there.) If so, then you'll be happy to know that THE MUPPETS...AGAIN! will open late this year or early in 2014.

JPbran you're a cutie.
Side note: I love love love love LOVE the Muppets. Excited for another movie. Visiting the Jim Henson studio is on my bucket list. It'll never happen but worth wishing for.

There's always those "announced" movie musicals that never quite make it into production:

Posted: 6/8/13 at 9:47amSupposedly there's another Jesus Christ Superstar remake in the works with Marc Webb set to direct, but with him directing The Amazing Spider-Man 2 right now I don't see that happening by next year.

Personally, I wish they would make movies of STARMITES and ZANNA, DON'T! but since those are relatively obscure musicals (even though ZANNA's controversialness has caused high school productions thereof to make some headlines and STARMITES was a Tony nominee back in the 80s.)
The more popular musicals I would like to see onscreen are WICKED, PROMISES PROMISES (because if they made a HAIRSPRAY non-musical movie and a musical one, why can't they do the same here), GUYS AND DOLLS, SPRING AWAKENING and NEXT TO NORMAL

There's also "Sunshine On Leith" which is a UK jukebox musical movie of "The Proclaimers" songs.
It will premiere at TIFF next month, and then get released in the UK in October, and probably US/Canada sometime next year, if it finds a distributor.

In early 2011, Starmites was briefly being tabled as an animated film (re-titled Starmasterz) by a Russian studio, to feature some huge names (a lot of divas were kicked around, predictably enough, for Diva, including Bette Midler, though never as more than a name written on a scratch pad in someone's office; it didn't last long enough), but the money people who were supposed to hook up the package pulled out due to doubts over the nature of the project and the creatives involved. (Translation: Barry Keating is a cuckoo clock.)
