I didn't like Derek as Danny. He had been doing it on tour for a long time before the NBC reality show and Broadway. I think he needs something fresh and new to test his longevity on Broadway.
I adore the black band holding on the Phantom's mask. ~ Jenna2
she carried a tune a little bit in Princess Diaries 2, but not brilliantly. She spoke most of it. plus, they might have adjusted it a bit via computers.
to be in a lead like that in a musical, I think her voice would have to be a bit stronger. Plus, she's not as young as she use to be. To carry a musical 8 times a week is hard.
<--- the set of A Midsummer Night's Dream that I was assistant stage manager for during the 2007 season at the STNJ outdoor stage.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree. ~Dirty Rotten Scoundrels~
There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel. ~Curtains~
It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known. ~A Tale of Two Cities ~
A nice idea - it is a lovely film. My fear would be that given it already contains lots of music anyway, it would suffer from being made into a musical. the film of Victor/Victoria springs to mind. However, Dame Judi might be up for it (in my dreams!). Her rendition of Send In the Clowns not the best sung but for me most moving so she would bring a tear to the eye.
Good film. Would make a fabulous musical. However I agree that a British cast would be more suited to the show.

One of my favorite films in recent years. It would make a great musical and there's no doubt in my mind that Dame Judi could recreate her role on stage and be as sublime as ever!
Dame Judi was also in rehearsals to play Grizzabella in the original production of Cats. She snapped her Achilles tendon and was thus replaced by Elaine Paige. I can't help but wonder what her Memory sounded like.

I actually have a few programs from the London preview performances - they have Dame Judi in the cast listing with bio, pic, etc - and a single one-page insert for Elaine Paige.

I have a photograph of her in costume as Edna, the Inebriate Cat, as Grizabella was apparently going to be originally called. Updated On: 1/24/09 at 06:20 AM
The Rita Hayworth musical TONIGHT AND EVERY NIGHT (1945, with a beautiful score by Jule Styne & Sammy Cahn) is essentially the same story as MRS. HENDERSON PRESENTS.
"Hurry up and get into your conga clothes - we've got to do something to save this show!"
I would like to see Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day as a musical, considering it was pretty fluffy as a movie. I think they could really fill in some of the better moments with songs which would be great.
is anyone else excited for this?! Tracie Bennett will star as Laura Henderson (the Judi Dench role) in Mrs. Henderson Presents the musical, opening on the West End at the Noel Coward Theatre February 9th.
Here is a preview of one of the songs, so good. by Emma Williams (the Lucy Punch character in the film)
