Maryann Plunkett will reprise her role in Deep Blue Sound by Abe Koogler in a fully staged production at the Shiva Theatre at The Public, directed by Arin Arbus. Plunkett won an Obie Award for her role as a woman in a mysterious small town as she grapples with assisted suicide. Uncle Vanya is soo over produced, it was just on Broadway last season and didn’t do well. Streetcar also over produced. plus the fact there is only 41 Broadway theatres and as of now not a single one is available in the Spring unless a show that’s open/coming in closes earlier than expected and even then there is other projects from producers that are probably ahead of them in line.

What I don’t get is why the 2010 revival with Christiane Noll and Stephanie Umoh was not that successful? And that revival to me feels like it wasn’t that long ago although it is going on 15 years ago but it seems like there has been a cultural shift that people now appreciate the show a lot more than they did back then?!

My first interaction with Tammy Faye was watching her on The Surreal Life on VH1 but the main thing I will never forget is when she was dying from cancer and would go on Larry King Live on CNN and give them most heartbreaking interviews. They are all on YouTube but fair warning it’s very hard to watch. Also highly recommend the two documentaries that were made by World of Wonder (the creators of RuPauls Drag Race) they are available on Wow Presents Plus.

Last year felt very full and competitive and we already have more productions announced than last year 36-38 and we’re at 18-21 on musical productions. (Assuming Smash is confirmed for the Imperial) Very exciting! I dont know if Midnight in the Garden or Real Women Have Curves will fit in this year. Also hoping for Dead Outlaw!
