Just a shout out to this little wonderful show at the 47th Street Theatre. Creator David Hanbury and chorus boys Ken Lear and Brandon Haagenson put on a great entertainment that's really hard to describe. Lots of cover songs from Broadway and movies help tell this crazy tale of a woman and her lost cat. Reminded me of old Charles Ludlam and Charles Busch or something you might see in Provincetown-yet it's original in its way. Mr. Hanbury lists Hedwig in his Regional credits and I'm not surprised-he has a great voice. I went on a lark and have seen it 4 times already.
Runs Fri-Mon thru Sept. 20th.

I haven't seen it yet, but it got a great review from Elizabeth Vincentelli in the NY Post last week:

Agreed. I had no idea what to expect but in spite of the camp it felt very polished and professional. I can't exactly say it had high production values but it also wasn't a low-budget mess. And I was very impressed with all the performers, especially Mrs. Smith. She only lip-synced one song and the rest of the vocals were on point. The song choices were great. A lot of classic showtunes. I don't think there was a song from this millennium but all the choices were unexpected pleasures and creatively inserted into the show.
