Hello fellow Broadway babies! I’m a huge musical theatre nerd and I’m obsessed with this show. I haven’t fallen this hard for a new musical in like 15 years, so I’ve been rabidly consuming the music since the cast album was released!
As a career musician who writes vocal and instrumental arrangements for a living, I think the score is a masterpiece. I love it so much that I felt compelled to create my first ever video essay dissecting the nuances of the music, and I thought this would be a good place to post it. This was super cool! I love the movie and have been dying (hehe) to see the musical, and I will be seeing it this Saturday! I had heard the score was merely serviceable with not much memorable, but you have shown how this score is almost a masterpiece! I say almost because I don't know how memorable the music will be, until I see the show and see how well I remember the tunes afterward. But you have geniusly found how well this score was written, and your video was so well put together with the audio and visuals! This was awesome!

Thank you so much!!! I can’t fathom how anyone could think these songs aren’t memorable. This show is super trendy right now, but I don’t think it will be a flash in the pan, I truly believe it will stand the test of time and become a beloved classic!

I know there have been many criticisms of the score but I’ve found it extremely pleasurable to listen to- it’s a cast album that I really enjoy listening to in its entirety.
